Andrew’s Notes: “Like my other two evolution stone Pokémon, Tide has some sort of strange relationship with water stones. I mean, Tide literally looks like one decided it was going to be an Onix of all things, got up, and did so. Secondly, Tide can act as though they’re legitimately a water stone and trigger evolution for other Pokémon. Thirdly, they’re genderless. Like the rock they’re supposed to be. Unlike Bolt and Leif they’re actually still in the normal egg group for Onix, mineral, but regular Onix ARE rocks so it only makes sense. Anyway, fourthly, their shadow is weird. Like, as in it doesn’t fit right sometimes, and I swear they can teleport even though I KNOW that’s not true. They seem to be able to get wherever they want whenever they want, no matter the security and locks involved. Lastly (but certainly not least), something is locking them from being able to evolve, similar to how the gigantamax factor does to Pikachu and Eevee that carry it. Only this isn’t dynamax, and it’s not like they’ve swallowed an everstone or something. Take from that what you will.”
