They're a troublemaker, but half of the time it wasn't even on purpose. He just likes having fun and sometimes, that fun comes from mischief. He doesn't cause as much mischief as people believe and some times they had good intentions but something went wrong. He may seem like a scary fella who's cold and doesn't care but deep down, he's a very caring and soft individual. He only acts hostile to other pirates and marines due to his past experiences but will always aid innocents in any way he can. He would rather steal from other pirates and give the gold to villagers in need than keep it himself, even if he really needs it. They usually put up a front in front of everyone but those who's close to him are able to really see who he is and ironically, some describe him as an angel despite the devil features.

When he was a child, he's always been neglected and bullied due to being born with devil features that scared everyone else. When the new pirate era started, a group of pirates raided their island and took him as ransom but due to no one liking him, they didnt call the marines to get him back. They always saw him as a bad omen. The only person to have cared for him was his father who did his best to treat him well. The pirates were able to sail to the Grandline, as he was born in the New world, so he was getting very far from his home. The marines only now found the pirates but it was pure coincidence as they didn't know there was a hostage child onboard, now attacking the ship. He was thrown overboard from the attack and ended up washed up on a nearby island, stranding him. Scared, alone and not sure what to do and who to trust, he would end up sleeping in the woods and then stealing from the nearby village for food and clothes. As the nights were getting colder, he would attempt to steal some warmer clothes but got caught when he tried to run with a black beanie. The old couple that stopped him paid for the beanie and offered him a warm place to stay. For the next few years he would stay with them happily and working part time jobs around to make money in hopes to pay for a trip back home. Unfortunately, one day, some pirates arrived at the island and set the village on fire. Sadly he was too late to save the old couple and it didn't help that the marines didnt arrive until much too late. After the incident, it just solidified more his hatred towards pirates and marines, believing one being scum and the other being incompetent. He forever kept the black beanie with him and started sneaking onto ships to jump islands.

For the next 10 years, he would be seeing all sorts of islands and gotten better at sneaking and stealing. Once He reached 18yrs old, he decided to become a bounty hunter in hopes that would pay enough money for him to buy his own ship to sail back home as all the ship jumping hasnt gotten him too far do to many pirates never reaching the New World. His fighting is quite rusty and was only able to assassinate low end pirates using some ambush tactics. He would call the marines to pick up the body and leave the pay but soon enough a vice admiral caught wind of the new bounty hunter and thought it was odd so he started investigating. Smoker would catch the bounty hunter, Nocturne, he went by as, and was surprised by how young and interesting he looked. He decided to make a deal with Nocturne, for him to continue bounty hunting but to mostly work under him, giving him a transponder snail to have direct contact with the vice admiral. For the net 2 years, Smoker would be training him to better stand his ground and also thought him what Haki was, which Nocturne natural had a sense of and had been using it for his entire life to help him 'see' while his eyes were covered. Smoker would also mostly be the one taking care of him, giving him new clothes and buying him food to eat, slowly making himself like a father-figure to Nocturne.

One day, the Heart Pirates landed at the same island he was currently staying at. He saw them and thought it was a good opportunity for him to steal some treasure to aid his goal in buying that new ship plus some food. With his light feet, he managed to sneak into the submarine ship and reach the treasure room, though it was harder to sneak around when the ship was enclosed. After packing a bunch of gold and food for himself, he fled the scene and rand back to his hideout, however the pirates noticed of the thievery. They would quickly track down the thief to get their gold back and to see what skill thief managed to steal from them. Nocturne would get caught eventually and was pushed into a corner. The Captain however gave him an offer, to keep the stolen goods or to give it back and join their crew. Hesitantly. he accepted, not liking siding with pirates but he was scared with their power and needed the food and shelter, and he thought he could just wait for the right moment and steal from them again and escape. However, he actually started liking being part of the crew, claiming that they werent like the other scum pirates. Shachi and Penguin were the first to get close to him and also give him a welcoming gift, the signature hat, which completely change his opinions on them. However, while he was getting accustomed to the new lifestyle, he hasn't told Smoker that he joined a pirate crew, especially when he told him that he wouold never join either marines or pirates, and he hasnt told his crewmembers or captain on having contact with the vice captain in fear that either of them would abandon him from knowing that he's dabbling with the other party.

After some time with the Heart pirates, they would finally bring him back to his home island like they promised they would once arriving to the New World. Unfortunately, the people weren't happy that he came back and had assume he had died at sea. Even his mother hated the fact that he came back, telling the father to take care of the 'monster' at their home thats 'threatening' their new young girl. The father, however, was relieve that his son was still alive but couldnt have him stay and offers him the money that he had saved on the side for him for all these years. He leaves the island absolutely broken. Years of believeing that they missed and cared for him, and trying his best to get back home, only to be rejected, with only his father caring but still telling him to leave. Nocturne would stay with the Heart pirates and fully acknowledge Smoker as his adoptive father. Now, looking for a new goal.

• Dancing is one of his favorite hobbies and they know several different styles due to traverling to multiple islands and learning them there.
• They have a habit of stealing food and eating it right away like it may be his last meal due to having to constantly scavenge and steal food to survive for 15 years.
• He refuses to show his eyes to anyone due to some personal reasoning and always gets scared when someone attempts to see them. Even when Shachi and Penguin were the first to be his friends and being the most supportive, They have never been able to properly see their friend's eyes.
• Even though their eyes are covered by his hair, they're still able to see well enough to dodge bumping into any objects or walls by using their natural observation Haki but it doesn't let him actually see anything. He can only have a sense of light and a sense of silhouettes and motions.
• They don't like people touching their bare skin since its much more sensitive. However, the only people he actively lets them touch his skin are Shachi and Penguin. Even Law is limited to touch his skin only if absolutely necessory as Doctor. As well for sensitivity to touch, his skin is also more sensitive to temperatures and pain, causing them to react to extreme temps more harshly.
• They love stargazing, watching sunsets/sunrises and also taking care of plants on their free time. They aren't particulary good at gardening but just loves the smell and looks of plants/flowers. He helps out in the interior garden all the time and considers it his safe space and sometimes will lock himself in the garden area for a bit to calm himself down if anything arose and he's able to uncover his eyes when alone to gaze at all the plants.

• He loves to wear anything that doesnt have sleeves to show off his cool tattoo that they are very proud of and often wears the crew outfit only halfway, with the top being unziped and tied around his waist with a tanktop.
• They get cold very easily however, so the only time they wear the crew outfit fully is whenever it gets slightly cold.
• They barely ever remove his hat for multitude of reasons but mostly beause it was a gift by his first ever friends, Shachi and Penguin, for welcoming him into the Heart Pirates.
• His favorite colours are yellows and oranges. They have multiple hoodies ranging between those two colours.
• His tail always reacts to his emotions, which is how a lot of people are able to read his emotions even with his eyes covered. His tail will rattle whenever he's angered or threatened, it will curl up slightly towards himself when embarrassed or ashamed, it'll curl around his leg whenever he's sad or scared and wag when happy and excited. Most of the Heart/Strawhat pirates know how to read his tail and including Smoker.
