'Thalia' is actually an Alfiq Khajiit who's a Sphynx. She's an immensely powerful and dangerous sorceress. She would pretend to be a present from khajiit dignitaries to possible political enemies of her people, and would secretly spy on her "owners" for the khajiit government.
her cover gets blown on a job during the 4th Era. During her escape she gets badly injured (on the brink of death) and ends up hiding in some rose bushes, where she ends up meeting an 8 year old Quaithe who mistakes her for a normal, but injured, cat. He ends up laying under that rose bush with her, bringing her food, blankets, reading to her and casting healing spells at her while she bats at him with her claws, scratching him to peices, biting and hissing at him trying to make him leave her alone so she can escape.
Quaithe ends up spending three days under that bush trying to help her, much to his parents dismay and telling him to leave the poor cat alone and let her die in peace in the bushes. Thalia eventually realizes this kid just isn't giving up and decides it'll just be easier if she let's him help her. He nurses her back to health, and during that time Thalia thinks it might be safest for her to lay low with this kid for a few more days and then be one her way. well, a few days turns into 40 years.
She becomes Quaithe's mentor in magic and longtime (40 years) companion/found family. She pretends to be Quaithe's ‘pet’ for her own safety and to spying on people for him. The two are nearly inseparable, almost always within an arms length of one another. you rarely see one without the other.
Thalia's preferred spot is on her perch on top of Quaithe's backpack or on his shoulders, so she can speak to him unnoticed, watch his back and have a vantage point to see everything from her 6'4 Wood Orc perch.
