About

Originally the strongest magic user in his family, Kion has resigned himself to a quiet life near one of the most dangerous forests near the city. He spends his time scouring the Daunting Forest in the daytime, looking for abandoned dragon hatchlings in order to give them a second chance at life. However, due to this habit, he has landed himself in a fair amount of trouble and has had to live with the consequences ever since.

It is uncommon to see him staying in one place for more than a few hours at once, often having a lot on his plate to do and finding himself relatively busy at every hour of the day. However, he also has a habit of disappearing for days at a time, often worrying close loved ones until he inevitably comes back. One could only wonder what he gets up to in the time that he disappears completely.

He can get very defensive and protective of his loved ones, though he often finds himself also losing his temper at a small amount of issues that are also very important to him. Ironically, he is rather empathetic, so whenever he feels like he's close to becoming vulnerable, he begins to act out in an attempt to mask his tears with aggression. He's rather difficult to get close to, but befriending him means that you have a fiercely loyal and trustworthy friend in him.

Likes

Horrifying Plushies

Often finds comfort in the most disturbing creatures, just in plushie form.

Bubbles

Something about them takes him back to his childhood and makes him nostalgic.

Desserts

Finds himself frequently enjoying the sweeter things in life, with his absolute favorite being strawberry shortcake.

Romance Novels

There's nothing like the romanticism of a select amount of topics to really buy this hopeless romantic's attention, and most likely his free time.

Dislikes

Economics

Just all around hates the concept of economy in general, and very vocal about wishing trading was more commonplace instead.

Needles

It takes everything that he has to completely restrain himself from running away from yearly flu shots.

Heavy Rain

When thinking of the ideal outdoor weather, rain is the one thing that he absolutely despises going out in the most.

Confrontations

Hates people that go out regularly seeking fights with a burning passion, and often finds them a waste of time.

Abilities

Weakened Mana Usage

Ever since receiving the curse that permanently affected his soul, he has had to watch his mana usage for fear of pushing himself too far. However, he seems to have suspicions that he isn't supposed to be this weak, even with the curse.

Elemental Senses

Feature from his draconic curse. He is able to sense whenever particular elemental magic is near, which helps immensely with understanding the things around him and what is dangerous and what isn't. Also helps with finding elemental dragon hatchlings.

Draconic Understanding

Feature from his draconic curse. In humanoid form, he is allowed to both understand and translate the Draconic language. Currently unaware of this ability and believes that the dragon hatchlings in his care only talk to him now because of his physical draconic features.

Hobbies

Arts and Crafts

One of his favorite things to do when he has no other free time. He loves to draw and create, often under the pretense of busying his hands. Other things include sewing, knitting, crocheting, scrapbooking, and more.

Reading

Another one of Kion's favorite pastimes, he loves to get himself lost in the worlds of the novels that he reads. He often gets his books from the cafe that his sibling Koji works at, and has amassed quite the romance collection.

Animal Caretaking

Often feeling the need to take care of the needs of the ones around him, he's excellent at taking care of small critters and the like. This makes him the perfect dragon caretaker, often resulting in him doing his best to ensure those little critters are safe and sound.

Self-Defense Practice

Now having become a need more than ever before, Kion does his best to learn how to fight without relying on magic due to the cost casting magic has on his body. So far he isn't getting very far, but he's too afraid to go to the city to take classes.

Adolescence

Kion was born as the middle child to a family of five, being the younger brother of Michio and the older twin brother of Koji. He only was born three minutes before his twin, though their lives remained largely intertwined for quite a while. All throughout childhood, the two would do almost everything together, though they would also look up to Michio as their role model. They both often acted as if they were the same person split in two, but when it came to them acting separately, they couldn't have been more different.

Alone, Kion was a more quiet and reserved kid that preferred to keep to himself, only really accompanying Koji around whenever he possibly could. He was much better at math and science, the more logical classes, than Koji was, and he was often pulled aside whenever magic was involved. At first he was intrigued by his magical potential, wanting to pursue bigger and better things due to the strength of his spells and just how well he could memorize and pull off incantations. However, he didn't want to leave Koji behind, so he let those opportunities die out until they got to high school.

High School and Beyond

As the twins entered high school, Koji began to express more and more want for individuality instead of being stuck in a duo, and Kion agreed that maybe they should go their separate ways in order to pursue what they love before the pressures fell on them. After all, they just had a few more years until they were considered young adults, so why not use this time to do everything that they could before responsibility inevitably fell into their laps? They had seen just how stressed Michio had gotten with his job and adulthood in general, and they weren't about to go into adulthood without doing a bunch of what they wanted to do first.

Kion went for strengthening his own magical powers, becoming rather competitive when it came to the classes that involved magical training and practice. He excelled in those classes, but at the risk of his core grades falling drastically. Seeing that maybe being reckless with his grades wasn't so great, he began to stress himself out by trying to juggle his interest in magic with his disinterest in other classes. By the time that he had ended high school, he had gained quite the attention in his high school, being called a hot shot and even being challenged to duels in his off time. Though certainly not the strongest in the city, his magical abilities were still impressive and even captured the sights of certain government officials whose kids also attended the same school.

However, after everything he had been through, Kion still wanted to enhance his abilities further. Not through combat, but by proper study and acknowledgement of what really formed the basis of magic and mana. He decided that he wanted to go to university, but Koji, on the other hand, wished to end his academic journey there. Eventually, after a few days of trying to convince Koji to go along with him, he relented and said goodbye to his family before beginning to pack his belongings.

His recollections of the next day are false, but they are what he remembers the most clearly. He was defending his cottage from unspeakable horrors from the forest, eventually calling out to an elder dragon passing overhead to come help. Help was given, but at a major cost as he was bestowed with a curse to have the audacity to take in the weakest of hatchlings instead of letting them die out, as well as having the gall to ask a dragon for help. From that point on, for as much as he knew, he had been cursed permanently with no way out.

However, the true story was much different. At the last second, he got an unexpected acceptance letter from an especially prestigious university that he thought he had no chances of getting into. The only catch was that he had to confirm his acceptance in person. Eagerly, he showed up right on their doorstep. Instead of being taken in with open arms, though, he was instead taken into a room and left there to wait before he felt his whole body go numb. With the slow hiss of sleeping gas filling the room he was in, he soon passed out and was taken to a scientific ward.

The scientists treating him as a test subject had done something to him. Something that overwhelmed his senses and nearly caused him to go beserk. However, their hypothesis was proven correct and that was all that had mattered to them. They implanted false memories into his brain, then tossed him out near the Daunting Forest to leave him for dead. Luckily, he woke up again soon enough with no recollection of the acceptance letter, nor anything past that. He managed to survive the dangers within the forest and retreated to his cottage, believing strongly in the false memories he was given. Though, why did his magic feel so weak, even with the curse bestowed upon him...?

Post-Curse

Realizing that the curse given to him would impede his area of study severely, if not rendering it completely dangerous for him to undertake, he cancelled his enrollment at the last second and let his family know that he had given up on his dreams. Feeling it rather abrupt for him to just give up on something that he had been working towards for the vast majority of their lives, Michio and Koji grew worried. Michio observed him from the sidelines, though Koji was very up front about asking about it. Kion kept denying that there was anything wrong, but lying gets increasingly harder when you eventually start showing up to your family get togethers with horns, webbed ears, weird eyes, scales on your face and hands, and claws.

Eventually, Koji had enough and decided to pay Kion a surprise visit in the middle of the night. Instead of making it to his cottage, though, he was unceremoniously ambused by a lycanthrope within the Daunting Forest. Kion came to Koji's aid, but at the major cost of experiencing his draconic curse's transformation for the very first time. He had very nearly went feral before Koji was able to calm his mind and bring him back home to Michio, where he was temporarily relieved of his transformation and given more information about his curse. Realizing just how little mana he could rely on from that point forward, he knew he had to do something about it. And Michio knew just how to help.

Michio directed Kion to visit a powerful kitsune who lived deeper into the Daunting Forest, who aided Kion but at the cost of some of his draconic features becoming more permanent. Though at first feeling dysmorphic about the previously mentioned traits and the addition of a tail obstructing his balance, he eventually began to live with it and even began thriving once more. On occasion, he would become rather reckless with his powers and trigger the transformation again, but his deal with the kitsune had made it so he could keep his conscience in tact in those dire situations.

Nowadays, Kion lives a quiet life in his cottage, only really going to the city to visit his family and to pick up and drop off things on the rare occurrence he needs to buy something or gets to fulfill an order of certain materials from the Daunting Forest. Though not the best circumstances for him to live in, a majority of the days he really does not mind. Of course, life would have been much better if he had become a scholar, but this was probably second best for him in his eyes.

Koran and Kitiara Kagawa

relationship

Originally having been very close to them, he hasn't had the courage to show his face in front of them ever since he got more permanent treatment for his curse. He knows the two are understanding, but he also knows that seeing him would probably break their hearts. Even if it's for a few days to process, he doesn't want them to look at him with pity.

Michio Kagawa

relationship

His original role model and who he aspired to be like when he was little, but now he just feels bad for him as he got older. It's apparent that he sees more horrors by the day, and he can't help but feel like maybe he leans on Michio's support a bit too much. He feels like his familial love towards him is more parasitic than anything else.

Koji Kagawa

relationship

Originally having done everything together, now Kion feels a bit awkward around Koji due to the two of them not quite seeming as dynamic of a duo as before. He feels alien standing right next to Koji, and part of him blames them for how he first learned of his curse despite knowing that he was just at the wrong place at the wrong time.
