Nathanahel Amy was born in a family which have celestial blood in their ancestry, but a child where the traits show are rare and far in between. As such, when Nathanahel was born with an unearthly moon-touched silvery glow to his hair and eyes, his parents rejoiced. All his life, he’d been told that he was born blessed by the touch of the gods, and he believed it in the way the surrounding world spoke its secrets to him. He was quick to grow proud, as those with angelic heritage do -- and frequently preened, as a beautiful bird does, while the world grovelled around him.

However, such a reputation came with its expectations. Hoping to have him raise the family through notable deeds, Nathanahel’s parents reached out to the Record Keeper, Taranath Eyrynnhv, to take their young son as a student. Taranath was unwilling to take on any student, refusing -- however, he eventually caved in, in part due to his curiosity of the aasimar child presented before him. Nathanahel, aged just thirteen at the time, was proud and disdainful and unwilling to become anyone’s apprentice; however, he lacked a choice and inevitably found himself as the apprentice of a Record Keeper. 

He studied under Taranath for 5 years, butting heads with his mentor numerous times over the days; still, though his pride proved a drawback, he nonetheless showed himself to be a good student with great potential. Then one day, on his 18th year, Taranath packed and left with naught for explanation -- leaving behind for Nathanahel a few items for his independence, and a single question for him to answer to become a true Keeper. 

To Nathanahel, the question was a challenge to his legitimacy, as it implied he would never be a true Record Keeper unless he could find the answer to it. Infuriated, he set off to prove Taranath wrong, taking a new bound journal and a quill to begin recording his own experience with the world. Still, being unable to answer the question annoyed him every day with his inability to give a satisfactory answer -- 

It was fairly recent, when he made that deal. He wanted knowledge, he wanted answers to the secrets of the world, so he contacted even unsavory forces to answer to his queries. He thought he could answer Taranath this way, prove his irritant of a mentor wrong and become a true Keeper as he thought was his right. But he didn’t get any of that -- no, he was called a fool for his actions, falling into the trickery of the demons, and his soul was ripped from him for its celestial fineness. Unwhole, the celestial wings that feathered him his whole life turned black and rotten, the silver light turning from enchanting to frightening. 

It was nothing but humiliation. Not because of what he had done or what had become of him, but because it had been for naught. After a brief respite to collect his bearings, Nathanahel set off on a new journey to travel the world, to either get those answers he paid for, or retrieve his lost soul -- whichever just happens to come first.
