Description
As a Human
Elizabeth is a 4'11" pale-skinned female human. She has curly brown hair with golden undertones, and her hair turns dirty-blonde when she spends enough time in the sun. Her eyes are dark gray but can look more green or more blue depending on the lighting and her clothes. She wears very little makeup unless specifically going out. She is slender but strong for her size, can walk fast and far, and is a strong swimmer.
In cold weather, she usually wears long-sleeved shirts and pants or slacks. She likes wearing jackets and has several she rotates between, including a slate-gray rain jacket, a ski jacket, jean jackets, and puffy jackets. In hot weather, she rotates between t-shirts and shorts, t-shirts and skirts, and dresses. She prefers casual sneakers or sandals, but has wedge heels and platform shoes for nicer occasions. Much of her cold-weather closet can be repurposed for formal wear.
As a Non-Human
As a phoenix, Elizabeth is a large bird approximately the size and shape of an eagle. Her feathers are red, orange, gold, and blue. Her eyes are gray.
As a wolf, Elizabeth is typically a gray wolf with more golden fur. Her eyes are yellow.
As a cat, Elizabeth is typically a longhaired housecat with golden-brown fur and black tabby stripes. Her eyes are hazel.
As a bird, Elizabeth is typically a red-tailed hawk, a crow, or a raven.
As a dragon, Elizabeth is typically on the smaller side and has scales, horns, spines and spikes, and leathery wings. She often has lots of gold coloration but changes what colors/patterns she is depending on how she feels. Her eyes are gray.
Magical Effects
- Elizabeth's bond with Pine caused her ears to slowly become pointed. She uses shapeshifting to make them appear more normal.
- Elizabeth's bond with Lena eventually caused her eyes to permanently turn light blue. She can use illusions to give the appearance of a different eye color, but her eyes will stay light blue in every form.
- Elizabeth typically settles on being 5'4" in height with golden hair.
History
Elizabeth grew up in a coastal city in the continental United States to a pair of immigrant parents. She went to a private religious school from K-4th grade before being switched to a private secular school for 5th-8th grade. She successfully applied to a private high school in the same city with an advanced curriculum. She decided to go to a private out-of-state university because she wanted to experience more of the world in a relatively safe environment.
She began playing piano at 7 years old and continued to learn throughout her life. She enjoys writing and drawing, and wrote her first long story at 8 years old. She is multilingual; her primary languages are English and Russian but she studied Hebrew and Spanish, and makes a point to learn the languages of the universes she visits. She is skilled at animal mimicry and can mimic cats, dogs, horses, and certain birds.
Family
Elizabeth's parents are Helen and George Ruben, immigrants to the United States from the Soviet Union. Her little brother is Raphael Ruben.
Her first husband was a Feruchemist from Scadrial. Together, they had three children: Daniel, Esther, and Rebecca Ruben. They are half-phoenix and, due to Elizabeth's magical strength, inherited her longevity, some of her powers, and full Feruchemy through their Connection to Scadrial.
Her second husband, Heberon Teshasav, is a Truthwatcher from Roshar. Together, they had two children: Deborah and Samson Teshasav. Heberon used magical means to become a phoenix and their children are full phoenixes. As such, they inherited a wider spread of powers and a Connection to Roshar.
