Atsuo Onidake (鬼武 厚緒 Onidake Atsuo) is a student of U.A. High School's Heroics department, Class 2-B.

As he comes from a family of oni, Atsuo, unsurprisingly, dwarfs his peers. Almost two meters in height and still growing, he is both tall and broad, and his size alone can be very intimidating. His skin is red, and he has two small horns protruding from his forehead in the same color, which his dark, messy hair falls around. He has an underbite with two lower fangs sticking out. His eyes are gold, and his sclera black. Typically he is seen with warding tags or luck charms somewhere on his person, be it directly on his skin or tucked into his clothing.

Atsuo is not city-born, and it shows. His words are rough and his manners are lacking, and his social skills in general could use improvement. Quick to anger, he has a hard time holding himself back when he needs to, and as he often jumps to conclusions without seeing the whole picture, it happens quite often. To top it off, Atsuo knows he stands out, knows the negative depictions attached to oni (and can see it when people look at him), and it unnerves him. He can be devastatingly shy and nervous, which doesn't really match his intimidating appearance very well.
Very superstitious, he heavily believes in ghosts and spirits, and does whatever he can to convince himself he's appeased anything that might be in the vicinity. As such, Atsuo can be quite respectful when he needs to be. He's also prone to forcing his superstitions on others, insisting they follow his little rituals so that they too aren't "cursed." He thinks he's being helpful, even if he isn't.

QUIRK
Oni Physique: Atsuo's quirk gives him access to the power that belongs to the Oni of folktales. Energy surges through his whole body, causing several features to grow, most notably his arms, horns, and hair. He acquires superior strength and reflexes, as well as the ability to manipulate some forms of weather/disasters, typically storms and earthquakes.
Advantages:
- In his activated state, he possesses the ability to call a ground-splitting earthquake in a 5 meter radius, or to brew a storm in the clouds.
- While naturally strong without his quirk, in his full oni form Atsuo is much more powerful, easily capable of breaking walls or damaging the ground.
- While not exactly a speed boost, his senses are sharpened when his quirk is activated, reducing his reaction times and minimizing wasted energy, making him relatively more efficient and quicker in his movements.
Disadvantages:
- Using his quirk is extremely draining both physically and spiritually. While Atsuo has trained his body so it takes less of a toll, the effects are not negated. He also needs to rest somewhere with a high spiritual energy afterward to recharge his power.
- He refuses to engage in battle near a shrine or temple. The spiritual energy is much to powerful for him to handle, and there's a possibility he'll lose control. He also doesn't want to risk angering the spirits there.
- He is unable to manipulate weather that is not of his own creation. He can't stop a preexisting rain shower or earthquake or affect its course.

The kanji in Atsuo's surname are 鬼 (ghost) + 武 (warrior), a reference to his oni lineage, and the kanji in his forename are 厚 (brazen; heavy) + 緒 (cord).
