Loyal (?) bodyguard of Malchance. When they first met, Malchance found Beck after he had been harrassed and beaten by a group of gangsters. Beck had the unfortunate luck of sleeping with one of their lovers, not that he cared if she was single or taken. Malchance felt an immediate attraction to the bloodied and bruised young man and offered him a place in his bed for the night. With nothing to lose or gain from this interaction aside from a place to sleep and the warmth of another body, Beck accepted his offer. In the morning, Malchance presented Beck with the opportunity to train and work under him as his personal bodyguard, making sure Beck knows that it doesn't matter to him if he lives or dies. Beck, smirking, asks if he'll give him something worthwhile to live for.
Years later, the two have a tit for tat relationship, with both almost killing each other several times. Although Beck is an excellent bodyguard, he can also be the most dangerous to Malchance, as Beck is always his right eye and his blind spot. Both being sadists, their relationship was one born out of a need for something exciting.
Though Malchance and Beck are emotionally unavailable, in their own way they care for each other, especially showing their affection when the other is near death. Being unable to live without the other, they, regrettably, grow old together.

Personality: Beck is indifferent towards life. He has no strong will nor desire to live. He will follow his boss' orders to a T, but can be quite rebellious when they're at home. Beck is generally the quiet type and searches for anything to entertain him. Luckily for him, he finds Malchance interesting. Though uncaring on the outside, Beck ensures Malchance is always comfortable and well taken care of, as he is his number one priority. However, he would be more than willing to kill Malchance should he be ordered to.

Malchance and Beck are based on a cobra and a mongoose, specifically inspired by Rikki Tikki Tavi by Rudyard Kipling.
