Background:

Born to a career military family, Constance grew up as the only child of her two loving parents who supported and encouraged her education into West Point, achieving a full ride scholarship. After graduating top of her class, she was deployed overseas where she quickly rose through the ranks to Sergeant. During a frontal assault on an occupied city in Afghanistan, she spotted an ambush unit on their right flank; she sacrificed her tank - and her team - to stop the attack. Awarded the Purple Heart and Distinguished Service Cross, she was promoted to Staff Sergeant and granted a year-long service leave to recover, where she began to struggle with PTSD, depression, and disillusionment. She encountered Ghazuz, an ex-Afghan soldier she pulled from bombed-out rubble back in the war, in Arlington Cemetery, reestablished her connection with him, and gradually fell in love. Through her friends, she found the motivation to move from New Orleans, Louisiana to Washington, D.C. so she could not only live with Ghazuz but also help him foster/help a pair of gremlins who she would eventually, along with Ghazuz, become a Gremlin family with. She managed to file a conscientious objection at the end of her leave and was honorably discharged from the Army with full benefits, and now works as a politcal strategist for Senator Quinn Bellacroix (D-LA).

Fun fact: I created Constance as an RPG character I could play as a tank who could soak up damage like a sponge and who I could explore all the blunt/ruthless dialogue options and choices with. She of course got fleshed out rather quickly, because that didn't sit right with me. Hers is a journey of someone with a privileged upbringing, who was raised around propaganda and sheltered from the world, who is groomed into being a brutal and ruthlessly effective military leader - only to have that mindset be shattered by losing everything and quaking her entire worldview. I mostly start games with Constance where she's just beginning to pick up the pieces again, still clinging to her old mindset while shutting herself off from her new squad so neither get attached, only to get attached anyway and have her friends slowly help her heal and through her trauma find strength to seize power from the very establishment that molded her and bring it down.
