Profile

“Long ago, an egg appeared amidst the chaos of nothingness. From this egg came the Original One, who brought about all there was, is, and ever will be. The Original One’s light shone through the darkness, giving form to the void. As life came about, so too did spirit, giving birth to beings of legendary power. Led by the Original One, his Thousand Arms outstretched across the Universe, shaping the fathomless expanse as they took oath to protect all that was, is, and ever will be. Such is the purpose of Legendary Pokemon.”

Legendary Pokemon are essentially the deities of this world, born to create and maintain the balance of the Universe. Legendaries are crucial to the existence of the Universe. Without them, it would fall out of balance and return to chaos.

General Information
  • While mortal pokemon are born from biological parents, most Legendaries are created by the Universe itself. Universe-born Legendaries are created when the Universe detects an imbalance within itself; as a result, the new Legendary is born with the powers required to restore that balance. The role the Legendary must fulfill is the determining factor of the species they are born as.
  • Most Legendaries are incapable of reproduction. There are currently 2 known exceptions to this: the Manaphy, who can reproduce asexually to create a Phione; and the Solgaleo and Lunala, who can combine their energies to create a Cosmog.
  • All Legendaries are immortal, but the type of immortality they possess depends on how much Universal Energy (UE) they possess. Rare or one of a kind species are permanently immortal because they have immense levels of UE, while more common species are functionally immortal because they have less UE.
  • Young Legendaries must undergo training in their respective role before earning their official title. All trainees are assigned a mentor, usually an older Legendary who has a lot of experience in the role. The mentor raises the trainee until they're experienced enough to carry out their role by themself.
  • The term “Mythical” is an unofficial term that refers to the most common species of Legendaries.
The Hierarchy
Like any pantheon, Legendary Pokemon have their own hierarchical ranking system. There are 4 main categories within this ranking, with some subrankings as well. The hierarchy is as follows:
  • Creators
  • Universe Guardians
    • Temporal Deities
    • Cosmic Deities
    • Dimensional Deities
    • Spirit Deities
  • World Guardians
  • Guardians
That's kinda confusing, so let's break down each role!

Creators are responsible for the creation of the Universe. Each Creator produced a fundamental part of the Universe -- or in Arceus’s case, the Universe itself. The Creators are:
  • Arceus, Creator of All
  • Dialga, Creator of Time
  • Palkia, Creator of Space
  • Giratina, Creator of Matter
  • Eon (Uxie), Creator of Wisdom
  • Era (Mesprit), Creator of Emotion
  • Eterna (Azelf), Creator of Willpower
Universe Guardians are responsible for maintaining the fundamental creations of the Universe. Because they work directly under Creators, their title depends on who they work for.
  • Temporal Deities work under Dialga. They're responsible for maintaining the flow of time, repairing time anomalies, and sealing spacetime distortions.
  • Cosmic Deities work under Palkia. They're responsible for assisting in the expansion of space, recycling old matter into new stars, and sealing spacetime distortions.
  • Dimensional Deities work under Giratina. They're responsible for monitoring and maintaining the stability of the Universe from the Distortion World.
  • Spirit Deities work under Eon, Era, and Eterna. They're responsible for sharing wisdom, emotion, and willpower with other pokemon.
World Guardians are responsible for creating and protecting all life on Earth. Because their job spans the entire globe, they’re frequently on the move, rarely staying in one place for very long.

Guardians, sometimes also known as Guardian Deities, are the most common rank in the hierarchy, and have the highest variety of Legendary species. Unlike World Guardians, who are responsible for protecting the Earth as a whole, Guardians are responsible for overseeing the protecting of specific locations on Earth, such as forests, oceans, islands, and even regions. Because of this, a Guardian’s title varies depending on their role. Each continent has at least one head Guardian who oversees the other Guardians that live there.

Non-Legendaries
Some species of pokemon that are classified as Legendary or Mythical in the games aren't considered Legendaries in this world. This occurs when a species meet one or more of the following disqualifying criteria:
  • 1.) They were created by artificial means, and therefore could not be created by the Universe.
  • 2.) They’re alien life forms not native to Earth.
  • 3.) They evolve from a non-Legendary species.
  • 4.) I either couldn’t figure out what to do with them or didn’t think they deserved the title in the first place.
The following is a list of pokemon that are NOT considered Legendaries in the PokéVerse, as well as the number corresponding with the reason behind my decision:
  • Mewtwo - 1
  • Regirock / Regice / Registeel / Regieleki / Regidrago - 1
  • Genesect - 1
  • Type: Null / Silvally - 1
  • Magearna - 1
  • Wo-Chien / Chien-Pao / Ting-Lu / Chi-Yu - 1
