Personality

The easiest way most people know how to describe Envy is obnoxious. He's loud, brash, mean, and crass. He has an incredibly foul mouth, which acts as evidence for his total lack of a filter. He's startlingly bold, and speaks his mind loudly and proudly. If he has something to say, you're going to know all about it, whether you like it or not. He has a snarky, mean sense of humor, and is no stranger to cracking bad jokes at the worst times. He has a lot of pride for his position as second-in-command. He likes being on top and being trusted to take control of things. He knows he's capable, and he wants everyone else to know it too. He's very stubborn and fiercely independent. He cares a lot about his freedom, and he doesn't take orders easily from just about anyone. Beauregard has an easier time of giving him orders because Envy loves and trusts him, but it still isn't easy. He doesn't take kindly to people underestimating or belittling him, and you'll quickly learn better if you let your guard down around him. However, he's also questionable when it comes to compliments. He's somewhat of a tsundere. He loves hearing praise and having people recognize his achievements, but he feels like he can't just admit to it outright. His way of thanking you is saying he "knows that already, asshole." He tends to be pretty ruthless, something that works in his position. He very much believes that violence isn't the answer, it's a question and the answer is yes. If he can fight his problems away, he will. While he'd never let you know it, he's kind of a hotheaded dummy outside of his job. He has one functioning braincell, and it's usually in anger mode. However, he's badass and reliable enough to make it work. When he does have thoughts, they're actually surprisingly good.

Despite his hotheaded nature, when Envy has to lead, he's actually a natural fit. He knows how to be commanding and rally people together. Whether it be out of fear or out of genuine respect, no one's quite sure. He also knows how to make an example out of himself. He is incredibly brave, perhaps to a reckless extent, but he'd never admit to that. He'll often say that fear isn't a word in his vocabulary, and those who have seen him in action have reason to believe it. He doesn't believe in giving up or chickening out, and he'll give any task set in front of him his all. While he understands power and hierarchy, that doesn't mean he has to abide by it. He doesn't care who you are or what your status is, you don't scare him. If you want him to respect you, you have to work for it. Likewise, he doesn't expect respect as a given for himself. He knows he has to work for it just as hard as he expects others to, and he delivers. Once you've gained his respect, you have his loyalty for just about life, assuming you play your cards right. As rough around the edges as he is, he can actually be oddly empowering. While it's unclear whether this is intentional or not, he's good at giving tough love. He'll be the one to say the things you need to hear in a hard time. Even if it's delivered loudly and with plenty of swearing, it can be just what those around him need to inspire themselves. Don't question him about whether he has good intentions, though. He'd never admit to having a particularly soft heart, after all.

Combat

Unlike his Hellion boyfriend, Envy is just a normal human. However, you'd be forgiven for thinking otherwise, as he is absolutely unhinged in combat. He packs a punch, and he can take a punch. He's like a cockroach, way more resilient than he has any right being. Not invulnerable of course, but still. His tolerance for pain and injury is nuts. Outside of hand-to-hand combat, he mainly prefers to rely on knives. He has a particular soft spot for serrated tactical knives, but his arsenal is huge. He excels in melee combat with them, and will often throw them to take out foes from a distance. He knows he could rely on guns for this instead, but he just prefers the feel of a knife compared to a gun. They're also much easier to lace with poison, something he frequently does. If a knife slash of his doesn't kill you, the poison on the blade sure will. Surprisingly, he is actually quite a poison expert. He knows a lot about different poisons, and has a large supply of varying poisons with different effects depending on what he needs. He's no stranger to tinkering around with other forms of poisonous weaponry too, particularly poison-filled explosives, but he doesn't often deploy them in the field.
