The co-leader of Team Compass, Elegy used to be a human working on her family’s berry farm, saving up for college, before she was whisked away one night in her dreams and brought to the Pokémon world as an albino Chatot. “Elegy” isn’t actually her name, just an alias she used while in that world. One she’s adopted as her name forever, now that there’s no chance of returning to human form.
Elegy was never told why she was brought to the Pokémon world, just given a nameless plea for help, and lived life as a mystery dungeon explorer before things went to heck. A strange entity arose, bringing with it a surge of mystery dungeons and disasters to accompany it. One that, even though it was eventually defeated by the combined might of several powerful exploration teams and a human immune to its power to sap the will to go on, merely gloated that they were too late. That its corruption had already sank deep into the earth, and there was nothing and no one that could stop things now.
It was only thanks to Elegy’s unique circumstances and connection to her original world that saw anyone surviving at all; everyone and everything else perished with their world, just as that creature intended. It died thinking it had won, unaware that an ember of that extinguished world yet lives on.
