Personality

The Beast of the Canyons, Cow of mud, the spirit of geology... any of these titles or names are fine, but Strata is just as fine with Strata.

Strata is an ancient, ancient creature who has roamed the earth shortly after the Earth's original formation, because of this he is quite relaxed and mellow- yet do not take his calm and slow demenor as lazyness or being slothish as he is quite the peppy fellow! He loves to run across the Earth and experience all that life has to offer; good, bad, and everything in between. He's decently wise, but doesn't like to explicitly tell any history of the Earth; thats for the organic creatures to experience and find out.

The most negative Strata ever gets is annoyed or somber, but he is generally neutral and at peace but he is always willing to lend a ear to anyones woes. He enjoys learning and teaching, as well as telling tales both grandious and simplistic... he does tend to ramble on, and can easily forget that time passes much differently for other people compared to him due to his imortality.

Appearance

Strata is a large, vaguely cow-dragon looking creature with a body comprised of many different layers of sediment and rock material; primarily sandstones. With his age and with erosion and changes in the earth his appearance doesn't stay 100% the same, often changing with the Earth. Despite being made out of a rock material he is warm to the touch and feels like soft beach sand- not too hot, but warm and cozy! Atop his head, neck and tail tip is green foliage that changes with the seasons as well as what is naturally found on the Earth in the time period he is in.

He has no eyes, ears, or organs and yet he still has all 5 senses of sight, smell, touch, taste and hearing. He does have a tongue and teeth, with his tongue being a mud like material and his teeth being akin to igneous stone. He doesn't need to eat but enjoys partaking in eating! He rarely ever wears any assessories as he finds them unessesary for himself.

Earth

His mother, his home. He appriciates the Earth and everything it does; he knows the Earth is not sentient like himself and yet he still appriciates and loves it. Strata ocasionally calls Earth "His mother" due to being formed deep within the Earth's mantle.

Mortals

Interesting creatures; he knows he will outlive every single one and yet he still persues knowing as many as he can and still enjoys conversing with any that come across him- Despite this, he's only known as a mythical beast in Folklore, said to give anyone who comes across him infinite knowledge and they will be blessed by the Earth (Not quite true, but who is he to deny any mortal some happiness in their lives, especially lives quite short?)

Backstory

Strata was born nameless, awakening deep within the mantle of the earth as the Earth was formed-- But, he was not quite alive yet, and instead he remained in the warm embrace of the planet. His life was content. As years turned to centuries, then to mellenia Strata became... well, not bored, but dreadfully curious. He felt alive, he could smell, taste, touch, think, feel... oh what were these wonderful sensations and ideals he felt? Desperate to explore and learn Strata finally crawled out of the Earth's Mantle. At first the Earth was quite... different. Hot, warm, and yet Strata felt thrilled to see all this- oh how exciting!! Strata would appear on the molten surface of the earth, dissapear for mellenia then re-appear when new drastic events would occure on the Earth's surface.

The geological beast would watch the first organisms form, study their growth and change and watch from afar as they'd learn to crawl. Strata refused to actively intervien or help in any of the processes of the Earth as it felt too grandious and out of his control; who is he to aid in his mother Earth's buissness without asking or being asked first? For all of the Earth's life Strata continued to follow developments in the earth; he would be the first to step his hooves onto new landmasses, into new volcanos, to the deepest trenches of the Earth, anywhere and anything formed by the Earth would be seen by this curious critter. As species became intellegent and started to evolve the canyon cow would keep a careful distance at first as, like prior mentioned, he didn't want to accidentally interfere and possibly mess something up, but ocasionally curious animals and mortal beings would catch glimpses of him and weave tales about what he was and what he did, and Strata would subtly bask in this status- as someone who was quite curious it was a honor to be a driving point of curiosity to many beast.

As time goes on Strata became much more comfortable conversing with living things; he learned every possibly language and form of communication to some degree, he studied things from afar and would offer passing advice to any who came across him. He continues to wander the Earth to this day, constantly noting any and all changes in nature.
