The second oldest Pokémon to have escaped the fall of his world, Ben’s biggest regret was not having been able to save his family, not with them living on the other side of the world as they were. And just like with Ollie, when the solution was finally found, there was no way to reach them.
Speaking of Ollie, Ben at this point has taken the young orphan under his metaphorical wing, with both Pokémon considering the other as their grandfather/grandson respectively. Ben treasures all children, it’s in the nature of his species to do so, but Ollie holds a special place in his heart. He’s his grandson, after all - they’re the only family the other has left now.
