acerior "ace"

he/him . biblically old . pan

ace is the main antagonist of the story, the king and creator of hell, and roscoe's abuser.

he generally prefers not to get his paws dirty, and assigns his lesser demons to do jobs he particularily dislikes. his preferred method of getting others to do his bidding is sweet talk and charisma, though he is no stranger to using brute force. what ace wants, ace gets.

wait, what?

ace is part of the story i created when i was 13-14, called the lightning dog. originally, he was only roscoe's boyfriend, and then developed further as i watched s*pernatural.

while talking about ace, we must have the cyril talk. ace is an angel, and therefore needs a mortal body in order to manifest on earth. he posesses cyril's body, which is why they look identical.

initially, there were no plans for cyril to exist. i split them off into different guys because i realised that the posessed guy should in fact be different from the guy who is posessing him. and also maybe it's weird for Literally Satan to use the name of the guy he's posessing as a cheap ploy to get roscoe upset? like, how petty is ace? he's certainly quite petty (on account of being lucifer from s*pernatural), but this much? come on.

ace is not a nice dude. he does all bad things on purpose to cause suffering. i understood this as a child, but still drew cute ship art. oh well. the horrific implications of ace shagging roscoe while wearing cyril's body were not on my mind when i came up with this.

please don't cancel me on xitter.

this summary will follow ace's life in chronological order, rather than the order of events taking place in the story. (did i mention there is time travel involved?)
the story
the prequel

ace's life before everything follows the standard modern retelling of the myth of lucifer. he used to live in heaven with his arcangel siblings, and then gets pissy at daddy when he creates mortals. also they're dogs. i couldn't draw people.

once formally thrown out of heaven, he lands a series of underground tunnels. he creates hell out of this place, lights fires that can never be extinguished, and created the first demons. he makes the yellow-eyed into his personal soldiers, who are to become trainers for future demons.

none of his new subjects are his friends, and everyone is well aware of this. ace does not hesitate to hurt the demons when they "misbehave". they generally avoid ace. new recruits are also keenly aware of the sense of danger around ace, and tend to not bother him.

his slightly older brother is tasked with getting the world rid of ace, but doesn't do it until the exact time that daddy scheduled this activity.

the lightning dog

chronologically, ace starts the story by getting his vessel. he doesn't know its name, or how it looks, but can recognise the general vibe it gives off. like a magic magnet or something.

ace starts sengind more and more demons to the surface, in search of his vessel, but also in preparation for his war with heaven and his brother. ace isn't really interested in the wellbeing of his lower grade subjects, as such, many are injured of even killed by the dogs in the mortal world. generally, demons can't be killed. these, however are proto-demons who manifested into a poorly constructed physical form, rather than posessing a body.

once he starts the "war" against heaven, he notices the dogs getting involved more than he would expect. he notices a rottweiler dog making a fuss of things and makes a mental note of the guy. he manages to locate his vessel. ace knows he needs to convince his vessel to let him take over his body. he does this by lying, of course. this "cyril" should've known better, really. "save my sister"? be real. that was never going to happen. through both of your bickering, she poisoned you and herself. she has hell to face for this. no salvation will be offered.

once inside cyril's body, he has access to all of his thoughts and memories. he learns of "roscoe" and his delusions, as cyril calls them. he learns of his "sister", his brother, his friends. he learns the future, through this roscoe's demented rambling.

at this point, there are 2 possible routes that this goes. the s*pernatural version, and the lightning dog version. the confrontation against ace's brother, michael, goes poorly, in all versions of events. michael defeats ace and locks him up in the cage in both versions. in the lightning version, roscoe isn't involved in this event, but in the s*pernatural version he is. more on this later.

carry on

tee hee sneaky other name for roscoe's prequel >:3c. this period of time spans from when roscoe enters hell to when he exists it.

defeated, and once again in hell, ace figures it's time to rebuild hell's army. don't ask me what happened to the cage, the timeline is horrible and i didn't think of the inconsistencies when i was 14. just roll with it

he one day spots roscoe wandering the paths of hell. ace kept cyril's spirit alive long enough to watch all of his loved ones suffer painful deaths, and he now is in possession of all his memories. (no he doesn't need the vessel in hell. i didn't think of this when i was 14 <3). he manages to "romance" roscoe. well, not romance. it is and always was meant to be portrayed as clear abuse. ace is not interested in roscoe romantically, and is only using him. through the stolen memories, ace understood that he is meant to send roscoe back in time to ensure cyril is prepared to become his vessel.

before sending him back in time, ace decides to have his fun with roscoe. whether he dies for ace or betrays him doesn't matter. through burning roscoe, ace "teaches" him to control fire. he makes sure that roscoe watches terry turn into a demon just enough that his victim knows she's beyond saving. after this, he sits roscoe down and gives him his mission. ace knows how much of a screw-up roscoe will be. he knows that roscoe will turn against him. but that doesn't stop ace from making it all feel real to roscoe.

the s*pernatural universe

few things differ in the s*pernatural version of events. roscoe is at first a dog, then a soul in hell, then he gets respawned by lucifer as a shape shifter. roscoe betrays lucifer and aids michael in locking him in the cage.

the timeline is once again, unclear to me. i'm not sure where the "putting lucifer in the box" event is supposed to take place in the chronology of it all. i don't know how that works with the fact that roscoe changes the future by helping put lucifer in the cage. why oh why did i insist to add time travel.

in the events of the show itself, lucifer is mostly harmless to roscoe. he makes fun of roscoe for being friends with the winchesters in season 5. there is a side plot about lucifer trying to "win back" roscoe's affection. this is creepy but was supposed to be treated as funny. roscoe no longer reciprocates.

the 2020 revamp

the 2020 revamp is the sitcom i would write this story as now that i'm an adult. they are no longer dogs. cyril is no longer roscoe's kid. ace is now just called satan.

satan is summoned to earth by roscoe. he posesses this random policeman who was out on patrol that night. satan has the displeasure of finding out that roscoe combined the summoning spell with a binding one. tragically, this means that satan doesn't get to kill this guy and just wreak havoc upon the earth!

doomed to a life of servitde to this alcoholic idiot, satan decides that flustering him through flirting is the ONLY possible way to pass the time. well, this and also sometimes pissing off the guy he posessed. oh, how the policeman hates it when satan answers his phone and speaks to his family.

the story ends with roscoe finally finding a way to banish satan back to hell. satan swears that he'll be back to doom roscoe's ass or something, but it's taken as a joke by all characters present.

roscoe
pawn

ace doesn't have many positive feelings about roscoe. he fakes romantic feelings in order to get what he wants. he inflicts harm and humiliation upon roscoe every chance he gets. ace is roscoe's abuser.

cyril
pawn, "my dear sweet vessel"

to ace, cyril is nothing more but an object to be gained. he needs cyril's body in order to manifest on earth. he uses sweet talk to get cyril to agree to let him in, after which he quickly gets rid of the passenger.

towards roscoe, ace whispers words of adoration about cyril, in an attempt to convince him that he will indeed keep cyril safe.

"michael?"
target

ace never meets phinny personally, but observes him through cyril's memories. even if he did, phinny would be nothing but an inconvenience. he is an ant to be squashed. a piece of trash to be discarded. weak and cowardly, even.

ace's singular regret is not figuring out who phinny is earlier. would he have known, he would've ended michael's vessel long before the war. surely, that way he would've been victorious.

"your pet"
pawn

ace finds terry insignificant. he uses her as a bargaining chip to get roscoe to stay obedient. he insists to his demon subordinates that she specifically must be made into a demon in the slowest way possible, specifically to manipulate roscoe with her torment.
