BLACKBERRY WHISPERS
Parselings a deck-based TTRPG created by Paper Cactus Games that has a focus on character and collaboration. In Parselings, individuals who have been infected by an inky parasite called a "Parsecyte" develop word tattoos over their body that reflect how the world views them, and by combining these Words with another "Parseling's" Words, they can alter the world around them in unique ways.
Blackberry Whispers is a Parselings campaign run by novamallow. The world mirrors our modern setting and takes place primarily in and around the city of Silkscar, an almost surreal place home to many Parselings. North of it, a huge spell (known as a Parse) has just been cast, and its lingering energy reverberated across the region, gaining the attention of Parselings all over. The six player characters arrive at or return to Silkscar together, each with different reasons but all with the mysterious Divine Parse on their minds.
People's Perception
When describing Yama, "eccentric" and "enigmatic" are woeful understatements. Pinpointing his whereabouts or his intentions are both equally hopeless; he's an impossible to read book with an uncanny ability to read other people. He fills his every action with dramatic flair, and his vocabulary is always particularly verbose. He always seems to know everything that's happening around Silkscar and beyond, and his eerie amount of knowledge is matched with an intensely powerful aura. Even non-Parselings can feel his low Coherency.
Yama used to be in the now dissolved Vision Paragraph, along with his twin sister, Yami. Although Yami is nowhere to be found, Yama can be found popping up all over Silkscar, seemingly at random. Nobody seems to know any place where he can consistently be found, but his falcon Lingua companion, Bhadra, can often be seen surveying the skies above the city.

"Weelll, I happen to be one of the four people in the whole world who know the password. But why would I tell it to you? That defeats the purpose, breaks the game, ruins the fun. Imagine as an usher, I told you what happens in the story, so you don't get the authentic experience... how would the playwright feel?"

"Hmm... But, if this is your side quest, I wonder what your main quest is. You two went to Besom recently... Tell me, Petri and Hemlock. You're from the Outpost, aren't you?"

Story
History
As of now, Yama's history is not well known. He used to be a member of the Vision Paragraph along with his twin sister Yami, and had low Coherency since before the Paragraph's dissolution. He is seemingly the only person to know about Yami's whereabouts and remained in touch with her since she hid away, but he never told anyone else about this, in accordance to his sister's wishes. He had bonded with Bhadra before Yami and Savitri had met.
Campaign
Petri and Hemlock met Yama while searching for more information about Yami. He revealed he had the answers they were looking for, but wouldn't "defeat the purpose" of the riddle by telling them outright, although he does steer them in the right direction. He called out that Petri and Hemlock are from the Outpost, before the party came to pick the two up.

YAMI
[ Twin sister ]
Yama is the only person still in contact with Yami, and he appears to care for her a great deal. Despite holding the key to her locked room, he respects her wishes of isolation and doesn't hand out the password.
BHADRA
[ Lingua companion ]
Bhadra is the Lingua with which Yama has bonded through the Pidgin Trick Tree. The two have shown some overlapping thought processes, and get along like long lived coworkers.
Additional Information
Yama has very low Coherency. The most apparent effect of this is his blue, fiery hair, which radiates power but never burns what it touches. The air around him seems to be distorted as if by heat, and his shadow flickers as if cast by a candle. He radiates smoke and cinders when angry. In addition, his canines are pronounced. His Coherency effects are so pronounced, even non-Parselings can feel them.
As he and Bhadra are bonded through the Pidgin Trick Tree, Bhadra can transform into a tattoo on Yama's skin, and can selectively emerge parts of his body. In effect, Yama can bear Bhadra's wings and fly with them.
The blue pin in his hat is a gift from Yami from a long time ago. He and Yami share an identical necklace which depicts the flower of the udumbara, or cluster fig tree, a tree sacred and significant in Buddhism and Hinduism.
Yama's name is derived from the Hindu deity of the same name: Yama, the god of justice, dharma, and death. He judges the dead and is the twin brother of Yami, the lady of life.
Yama shares a Hindu name origin with Yami, Savitri, and Bhadra.
