Owlpaw is a young ThunderClan apprentice and Thistlepaw's closest friend. Ever since he was young, he always saw himself as the future leader of the Clan. More often than not, however, his ambition gets him into trouble, and his mentor has had to rescue him on more than one occassion. Most of the younger warriors and other apprentices are annoyed by his antics, while many the elders see a piece of themselves in Owlpaw's fiery spirit.
He was nothing short of elated when Thistlepaw first told him about her dreams; as the sign of the owl, he is one of the cats StarClan has chosen to save all four of the clans. Rather than being afraid of breaking the warrior code, he is more than willing to bend the rules for the sake of doing the right thing. However, his headstrong nature means he is far from the best leader of the five Clan cats, and often refuses to take their suggestions.
At this point, his inability to view himself as anything but a natural leader is the very thing stopping himself from achieving what he wants. His unwillingness to accept help will only harm him more in the future.

Owlpaw has always been ambitious and hotheaded, always looking for ways to gain the respect of his Clan. He tends to be incredibly impulsive and believes he can handle much more than he's able to. To him, the warrior code comes second to how he believes he can best serve the Clan. The young apprentice often puts on a hostile front to strangers, and while he can be incredibly egotistical, his loyalty to his Clanmates and friends is unmatched.
Owlkit was born to Pineheart and Branchear early in newleaf, and was the only surviving kit in his litter. At the time, Pineheart was too sickly to nurse him, so he grew up with Downytuft and her child Thistlekit. He was quite small and sickly when he was young, and the other kits in the camp often mocked him for his size. Some even went as far as to say he would never be a warrior. Owlkit's desperation to prove them wrong has only grown stronger over the years, especially since he feels that just being a warrior is not enough. This has gotten him into all kinds of scrapes, including sneaking out to a Gathering and embarassing all of ThunderClan over the incident. The new apprentices who went to that Gathering have never forgiven him.
Owlpaw was very nearly held behind for another moon, until Cragtree, a senior warrior, made a request to be his mentor. The older cat promised the Clan that he would keep his apprentice in check and be responsible for Owlpaw himself. Despite secretly appreciating Cragtree's compassion, he still refuses to accept his mentor's help. His rule-breaking streak means that he is picking ticks from his elders just as often as hunting and fighting. Owlpaw has developed a begrudging friendship with many of the older cats; neither of them want to be around each other, or want help from any other cat.
Ever since learning his place in Thistlepaw's prophecies, Owlpaw has grown even more self-important. While he is more than willing to meet and even grow close with the other three cats, he has gained quite a reputation for being abrasive and stubborn. Longpaw, especially, distrusts cats from other Clans. And because of Owlpaw's arrogance, the WindClan cat hates him the most.
Owlpaw and Thistlepaw grew up together, and have always been by each others' sides. He is all too willing to stand up against Dogwood for her, even if it means getting in trouble on her behalf. Owlpaw was the first cat Thistlepaw told about her prophetic dreams.
Even on their first meeting, Longpaw and Owlpaw clashed with each other, and still bicker quite often. For a while, Longpaw refused to join the group entirely, until he saw for himself how WindClan was being affected.
