Setting Fallout 4, Sole Survivor
Faction Minutemen and Railroad, codename 'Whisper'
Description

Appearance: A wiry little fuck, all bones and sharp corners. He's short for pre-war standards, but about average in the wasteland. Not super healthy, looks like a little wind could knock him over. A radstorm sure as hell would.
Dark skin, bony face with droopy brown eyes, black hair tied into a ponytail. Broad nose. In later years he gets an undercut. Is absolutely covered in freckles and has a big white blotch on his forehead, plus a bunch of scars from stumbling through the wasteland and getting attacked by wildlife. The most obvious one runs from his lip down his chin.

I don't do a very good job at drawing him in a consistent way, these sketches [warning for bruises] probably capture his facial features best. But don't worry too much if you're trying to draw him and can't get him "right", I can't either.

Personality: Awkward at first, very non-threatening and easily dismissed. Has a fairly pronounced stutter and stress-cries. Gets dismissed as weak/non-threatening a lot because he looks sickly and weak and just generally not dangerous. Definitely uses this at his advantage to get information out of people. Very good at being quiet and unassuming, has very sharp observational skills.
Completely useless in a fistfight. Greatly prefers long distance for fighting, absolutely deadly with a rifle.

Smiles and laughs lot around people he likes, stupidly transparent about affection. A genuinely good person who wants to be helpful, wants to make the Commonwealth a better place, once he gets over the shock of being slingshot two hundred years into the future. Gets attached to people easily and makes sure they know, but good at respecting boundaries and letting people move at their own pace.

Suffers from various flavors of PTSD, absolutely hates the cold, gets sick a lot. Very restless, needs to be moving and doing things and be useful at all times. Can't stay in one place for very long before he gets the urge to move around again.

Poly as heck why are there so many attractive people in the wasteland aaaa. Feels really bad about wanting to smooch all of his friends until someone sits him down and explains that wasteland rules on relationships are really not as strict as pre-war ones. Probably Nick. It’s a terribly awkward conversation Wes cries and stutters a lot and Valentine feels bad about it. But he gains a lot from it. Ends up casual friends-with-benefits with a lot of folks, still can't believe he's allowed to.

History

Sole Survivor of Vault 111, his story more or less follows the Fallout4 plot outline, with some tweaks and discrepancies.

  • Born to a conservative, strict middle class family. Youngest of two children and the "problem child". His sister was always the model child who wanted everything society deemed appropriate, while he was always out and getting into trouble any way he could. The thought of having to settle down and raise children absolutely terrified him.
  • Was always very close to his sister, though, who would often cover for him or gently defend him when his parents got mad.
  • Enrolled in the military at seventeen, fresh out of school, pressured by his parents. Did not particularly enjoy any of it even though he turned out to be an excellent sniper, but leaving once you're in is surprisingly difficult.
  • Was still on active duty when the bombs fell, just happened to be on a short break, visiting his sister and her newborn baby in Sanctuary. Took her husband's place in the Vault (also a military man, on duty at the time).
  • Stumbles out into the wasteland absolutely terrified out of his wits.
  • Gets really sick shortly after leaving the vault and rescuing Preston and Co (getting very nearly killed by a Deathclaw will do that), has to stay in Sanctuary with a fever and infected wounds for the first few days. The whole ordeal doesn't really help with his overall grip on reality.
  • Gently gets nursed back to health by the Quincy survivors, startes helping Preston to try and repay him and quickly develops a taste for Minutemen work. It's a welcome change to be fighting for a cause he actually believes in.
  • Joins the Brotherhood for a short stint, mainly because he needs power armor to get through the glowing sea. Absolutely hates Maxon's guts, quits again as soon as he can. They let him go easy and forget about him, which comes to bite them in the ass later.
  • Joins the Railroad as soon as he learns about them and quickly makes a name for himself there, surprising everyone by being excellent at gathering intel. Deacon is reluctantly charmed.
  • When he gets to the Institute him and Shaun pretty much dislike each other on sight. Shaun is disappointed that Wes turns out to be his weird stuttering uncle and not his military hero father, Wes is absolutely appalled by everything in the Institute and strongly dislikes being patronized. They do not get along.
  • He still gets a room in the Institute and gets assigned to some rather boring fetch quests, more out of pity and a vague sense of duty on Father's end than out of any kind of sympathy. Mercilessly uses this to gather and funnel out as much Institute intel as he can.
  • Eventually takes the place down with the combined forces of the Minutemen and Railroad. They don't blow up the place, but they do their best to remove, hide or destroy as much of the resources and information as possible before the Brotherhood can descend onto the now gutted open Institute like the technology hoarding vultures they are.
  • Keeps on rebuilding the Minutemen with Preston, and gets the Railroad and Minutemen to work together. The Minutemen grow into a force big enough to be seriously reckoned with, and they more or less chase the Brotherhood out. Political murder might be involved.
  • Wes continues to run for both factions for quite a few years. The Castle becomes a beautiful fortress and central trading hub for the entire Commonwealth. Life is still hard, but it sucks a little bit less for everyone involved.
  • Eventually dies at thirty-something from a nasty case of pneumonia.

There's also a Vault-dweller AU where Wes isn't the Sole Survivor. The stories don't differ too strongly, though.

Trivia

  • Left handed.
  • Has a pronounced stutter.
  • Absolutely terrible with kids, awkward as hell.
  • Very restless sleeper, kicks and tosses a lot. Gets nightmares pretty often.
  • Sticky fingers. Usually doesn't steal anything of value, just pens and small tools, candy, stuff like that. He does, however, pocket anything that isn't bolted down in the Institute, once he gets there. Never gets caught.
  • Bruises easily.
Relationships

Dmryg6O.png
Adust Close friends, fellow Minutemen

Friends with benefits across various fallout AUs. Sniper buddies, scared shitless but still trying, kinky fucks in their downtime. Save each other's hide on the regular, more-or-less enthusiastically try to make the world better, and find comfort in each other when they fail. Wes finds Adust a place to settle down, Adust gives Wes somewhere to come back to when he needs a break from all the running around. It would all be very domestic except it's still the end of the world, but they make do.

Deacon Close friends, Railroad Agents

Fellow agent turned reluctant friend turned friend with benefits. Deacon has no intention to get attached to anyone ever again, but Wes is very, very hard to resist. The slowest slow-burn to have ever burned, because Deacon has Issues and Wes has the patience of a saint. It drives the rest of the Railroad bonkers but what can you do.

Preston Close friends, fellow Minutemen

Two sad, traumatized dorks stubbornly trying to make the wasteland better. Extremely supportive of each other, make sure the other gets enough food, and water, and sleep. Ridiculously good and determined and helpful, eventually reform the Minutemen into a powerful, self-sufficient, self-driven support network. Preston is definitely married to Sturges but Wes is allowed to sandwich between them sometimes and it's great.

Torcheck Close friends

Friends with benefits along with Adust in one of many AUs. Eventually infiltrates and reforms the Brotherhood of Steel for fun and profit. Wes is very proud. Kinky, supportive dorks and a force to be reckoned with. Torcheck isn't very good at feelings but he'll get there.

I'm not gonna write a blurb for the entire fo4 cast, So instead have link1 and link2.
Also familiar with Ida's Norma, Key's Kairos, and Eisenhexa's Shark, at the very least.
