((Yes. He is historically accurate- and in fact, loosely based on one of my own ancestors (who ran away from his small Canadian farming-fishing village to join the union army) ))

Alekshashka my beloved <3

Sasha immigrated with his parents to what would now be the prairie provinces of Canada, from Ukraine when he was but a small child. 

After many failed attempts at having a child- after many miscarriages they had begun to lose hope- Alekshashka was considered a bit of a miracle, and was greatly loved by his parents. Of course, however being raised on a Canadian farm, he still had your average choreload of the time.

I based him a bit on an great (x I forgot) uncle of mine, in that when the American Civil War broke out, he rode his horse across the country (my uncle walked and hitchhiked*), determined to join the Northern Army even if it meant taking a few months to make if all the way down there.

With his experience riding, as well as some casual study using his family’s heirloom sword, he ended up joining the cavalry- but truthfully he was near terrified senseless at the prospect of his beloved horse getting injured

• Bro LOVES babka <3
• Very much terrified of dogs- as a child he was attacked by one owned by a nearby farmer, which resulted in permanent scarring, and the loss of a few fingers.
• Flipping LOVES conifers, the smell, the look, EVERYTHING! (He can often be found napping under them)
• If he had the money he’d be a crazy cat lady- laddie…?
• His horse is a black gelding named Chugaister
