⇀ Childhood - [0 - 15]

The Venonats birth was… Disappointing, to say the least. Up in the Obsidian mountains a mother had just given birth to four baby bugs, three Larvesta girls and one… Venonat boy. Truth be told, she’d been unfaithful months ago and that single Venonat boy was the one thing that was going to give her away. “Lucky” for the new mother, she’d been away from home at the time, her husband still unaware of the birth of “his” children, giving her time to… fix the mess she made. Unfortunately, her version of fixing that mess, was to leave her lone son in the bush of a strangers garden, left to just hope.. Someone found him, and off into the night she went.

Just hours later, someone did happen across the baby- Shaw. A large, old Xatu who had lived up on the mountains for most of his life now… He’d been on a walk in his garden when he heard the baby crying, and followed the sound. Within an instant he took the child into his arms, bringing him in to care for him before bringing him into town the next day to look for his parents. After his search turned up no results, the old man opted to take in the child, as… he had no family left of his own, and he couldn’t bare to let the small bug go now.

He gave the Venonat the name Fredrickson, a name his now deceased wife would have liked for their future children they were never able to have.

From there, Freddy lived a very average life, Shaw taking over basically everything. His schooling, personal training, and so on. Shaw was the owner of a Dojo up in the mountains that would take on students every year, and Freddy would often sit in on classes even when he was too young to understand. He was a well behaved kid for the most part, and enjoyed watching the older kids spar and train.

After the days classes Shaw would give Freddy his “schooling”, which mostly consisted of general common sense things Shaw was taught by his own father. Outside of pen and paper learning, Shaw trained him in self defence and other forms of training/meditation, with a heavy focus on psychic abilities, even from a young age- though the training itself always matched his age, as not to overwhelm the bug. With that, by the time Freddy was old enough to join his father’s classes, he was already decently aquipt in all the classes teachings, giving him the opportunity to help guide his classmates.

⇀ Adulthood - 15 - 22

Around the age of 15, Freddy evolved into a Venomoth, giving him quite the growth spurt and confidence boost. Around that time Shaw started letting him travel into Cinderheart on the weekends alone or with other students at the Dojo to explore, which the bug loved. Freddy spent any time he could out at town, often with his friend Ava, a Lucario training at the Dojo.

At 18, Freddy met Ajax, who would soon become one of his best friends along with Ava. The three of them soon became a little trio, hanging out any day they could and usually getting in trouble. The three of them went on like this for a few years, but all good things come to an end…

⇀ Disaster - 22

And that was when the disaster hit.

Freddy was at the Dojo with Ava and her little brother just lounging when the storm hit. The three took shelter in doors hoping they could just wait out the storm, however they weren't so lucky… An earthquake from the nearby eruption caused part of the building to collapse, in a panic, Freddy managed to pull Rory back, but it was too late for Ava who had been buried in the rubble. It became clear to Freddy quickly that Ava hadn’t made it, seeing blood seep out from under the debris- he tried to pull Rory away and out of the to get them both to safety, and eventually convinced him to come along. After that, the two waited out the rest of the storm in silence...

⇀ Post Disaster - 22 - 23

Things didn’t get easier after the disaster ended. Shaw was nowhere to be seen, at the time of it all he’d been out meditating on one of the mountains and his body was never found… Shaw being gone tore Freddy apart- despite being 22 he was hardly independant, or at least he didn’t think he was or knew how to function without his father. Dealing with the loss of both Ava and his father at the same time was eating him alive- guilt and sadness tormented him, and having to take care of Rory, who would hardly eat or speak to him, didn’t help at all.

Around then was when Freddy started to dabble in drugs… They were pills he’d taken before, mostly just helped clear his head and quell his anxiety. At the start, he tried to take them sparingly, however as time went on things just seemed to be stacking up and becoming more stressful.

Suddenly one day a month or so after the disaster, Ajax had decided to leave, leaving his little sister with him, assuming he was in the right state of mind to watch over the teen. Truth be told, he wasn’t, and watching his closest friend leave and leave what was essentially his little sister with him while he she screamed and cried was heartbreaking. Though, he did his best to put up a strong front for her Rory. And then came his final sudden adoption- Nat. While scouting out around his now destroyed old home, he found a young Spiritomb roaming around all on his lonesome- when he tried to confront the kid in a panic they attacked him- though, determined to figure out why they were all alone he persisted, eventually convincing the ghost to come back to the city with him.

As time went on, things mostly seemed to smooth out… Freddys drug abuse persisted though, but at the very least managed to stay moderate throughout that first year- however against his best efforts, he was becoming dependant on it. After that first year finally passed… Freddy was starting to feel stuck. They needed a better form of making money, a better place to live… and, honestly more to do. Cinderheart was riddled with bad memories now and he was starting to despise the place… he needed a change. And he was sure the kids could benefit from one too.

Pondering the idea of where to go, the first place that popped into his head was Everstone. It was hard for it Not to be the first place he’d think of- it was on the radio constantly and people were always talking about it. Curious, and also just wanting to see Everstone first hand, he decided that’s where they’d be heading. After proposing that to the kids, they all seemed on board so, the little crew gathered their things and headed over to the city they’d heard so much about.
