Trance
As an elf, he doesn’t need to sleep, so he is able to stay up for much longer. He gains all the benefits from a full night’s sleep with just four hours of meditation.

Blessing of the Raven Queen
Being of the Shadar-kai race, he is one of the Raven Queen’s chosen, and so he is given some gifts from this blessing. Once a day, he is able to teleport up to 30 feet away from himself to a location not occupied by anything else.

Favoured by the Gods
Possessing a divine soul, Veradyn is allowed a small level of lenience in his struggles. If he is about to fail a task, whether dodging or attacking something, he could be given a small boost (+2d4) in order to better accomplish this task. He must rest for a short while before he can do this again.

Necrotic Resistance
As Shadar-kai, you would often be exposed to.. less than savory things in your youth. Because of such, Veradyn has developed a resistance to injury from sources that would be considered ‘necrotic’ in nature.

Cure Wounds
From his divine soul, Veradyn has a natural affinity when it comes to healing others with his magic. From within him, he is able to draw the ability to cure people’s wounds as if it was entirely natural (Bonus spell on top of other spells).

Inventory

’Staff’
A long wooden rod with a pointed, stone piece attached to one end of it. You don’t need to worry about the point. The point isn’t there. This is a staff. Don’t question it.

Arcane Focus (Crow Skull)
The skull from the crow that lead him into the Material Plane, gained after the creature was shot down by hunters.

Holy Symbol (Raven Queen)
A charm bearing the Raven Queen’s symbol, used as a focus for his more divine-based work when it comes to healing.

Feathery Shawl
A feathery shawl that he keeps to cover himself with. Good for making him feel secure, as it surrounds his neck and covers his back. Essentially a safety blanket, do not touch.

Cursed Pirate Journal
A black, mostly non-descript blank journal with a skull on the cover bought from a pawn shop, that the salesman stated he saw a pirate throw into the trash. A magical aura of some kind is emitting from it, but it is uncertain what kind.

Incomplete Wooden Figurine
An old wooden figurine depicting a man in prayer. It seems to be incomplete, as it has a piece in the back that seems as if it was broken off from something. A symbol to the Raven Queen is also depicted on the back.

Old Art Palette Board
An old art palette that he bought from a pawn shop. He has plans for this, despite the confusion most people would have about why he has it.

Summary

A wandering sorcerer who works as a ‘mercenary’ as a means of making money to survive. After being stranded with no guide to the tragedy he was supposed to collect, he’s just out to explore, learn, and survive in this unfamiliar world that has steadily grown more familiar. His mercenary work has taken him to many different places, and for that, he’s kept to it. Plus, it pays well, so there’s that.

Backstory

In Veradyn’s life growing up, his family and the rest of the community he lived with was under the mentality of 'it takes a village to raise a child'. Since there are pockets of Shadar-kai around Shadowfell, living and existing together, such a close-knit people all work together to raise the children (when there were children, since elves have children fairly rarely), so he had many 'parents', and then his actual parents. The village was overjoyed when he was born, a new child, a new part of their huge family.

But he wasn't ever really good at getting attached to them due to how they tried to teach him. He was way too ambitious and way too rash to follow their 'sit still and wait' mentality, and so he'd teach himself magic when no one was around, practicing with manipulating the magical energies present in the world around him- it was the Shadowfell, a pretty out-of-the-ordinary place, an echo of the Feywild- and he found that he was pretty good at it for... some reason. Most of the magic he produced, however, seemed to be a bright, healthy-looking colour, something blinding to people used to the dark like him, and so he had to be careful. He grew up, mentored and taught by the group of Shadar-kai he lived with alongside his parents, a generally pleasant upbringing. One day, his 'parents' and his true parents all found out about what he was doing, and they scolded him for practicing such things. Growing bitter about having his magical potential shut down, and how their relationships with him had turned more scolding and scrutinising, he grew distant emotionally from the others, the distance only heightened by the energies within his home. One day, one of the Raven Queen's crows came and found him, and led him out into the mortal plane, and it only grew more difficult from then.

Wyra is a Firbolg that was hired at the same time as Veradyn, so she is the only of their group of mercenaries that he has met so far. He likes her strength, and her willingness to work with him, and that she has verbally stated that she appreciates his help, so… she’s alright. He’d be okay being friends.
