Profile

► MONTI, CLAN'KET

"I feel there is more to an Orc and their skillset than their physical strength..."

Appearance

Eyes: His almond-shaped eyes are down turned but wide. His eye color is dark brown. Looks more honey-brown in direct light.
Skin: He has orangeish-red skin that is very vibrant. Oftentimes has visible tan-marks from his baldric.
Hair: Monti's hair is a fairly curly, saturated dark blue-- it is in the same styled haircut as his twin's, and he hardly puts it up.
Body type: Lean, with prominent ribs and hipbones. He is considered 'severely underweight' compared to the average Orc.
Special notes for Monti's appearance: Monti is of average height, though due to his slouching he can come off a bit shorter.
His tusks are fairly short and narrow compared to other Orcs. His lips are loosely shaped and full.
His long narrow nose tapers into a wide, buttonesque nostril.
More often than not has his fingernails and toenails painted black [this is common for Orcs]

Clothing, piercings: It's conventional for Orcs to usually just wear a white fundoshi and compress bandages on their lower arms and legs, so that is what Monti is usually seen in.
He sometimes has a baldric and belt that he places various goods in.
For piercings, his earlobes and labret are stretched and always seen with a black plate. His septum is pierced as well, and he keeps a dull metal jewelry in for it. Compared to other Orcs, he avoids getting poked by needles if he can help it, and has no other piercings.

Mannerisms: Since Monti is an introspective sort, he's usually looking contemplative, complete with head in hand and all.
For some reason keeps his hands behind his back subconsciously-- maybe because his twin causes so much trouble on his own and doesn't want to be a part of that, lol.
Prone to getting watery-eyed for even small things (though he personally thinks nothing of it, he sometimes worries others when it happens).

Personality

  • Monti is reserved for an Orc-- it doesn't help that his twin is overbearing and in-your-face. Due to his reservations, he can sometimes come off as a spoilsport.
  • Due to several things at play, Monti has strong feelings of inadequacy, even though he is one of the smartest Orcs in his family. He does his best to not interfere or intrude upon others, and that includes stating personal opinions or correcting another Orc who happens to be wrong. Of course, the exception for this is his twin brother.
  • He sometimes cannot resist the urge to act his age and play, ramble excitedly, and be selfish, but it doesn't happen often enough.
He considers these acts for only the most personal moments and will only get like this in privacy.
  • Very dramatic/passionate and will passively-aggressively fuss about every little thing if he feels comfortable around whoever is annoying him.
  • He is never bewildered or upset by the misjudgments bestowed upon him, and agrees often with them (whether it's the truth or not).
  • Even though he can be very self-critical, he certainly doesn't hold back on judging others privately and being petty; a big fan of schadenfreude.

History

On his species/living:
  • The Orcs come from a long line of tough, nomadic ancestors that have settled along coastline for hundreds of years. While the forefathers and the much older Orcs of today understand that there is more to life than their species and peaceful life along the coast, they purposely stay in their place, not having expanded for a half-century.
  • Because of the overall peaceful living, the Orcs have not seen another living species in centuries. The information on other species is nil and many Orcs believe they're the only people in the world. [This couldn't be further from the truth, but when the time comes, the Orcs will integrate fairly well with the other people in their world.]
  • There are various settlements (Orcish cities/towns), but the most populated is Monti's father's settlement.
The Orcs are constantly busy working, since the populations are quite large in each settlement; intense labor is necessary to keep everyone alive and healthy all across their lands in their little-to-no-machinery lifestyle.
  • The tattoos are given throughout an Orcs life, starting at young ages [you can read more about that in the next category, too]. While the facial and torso/back tattoos are different depending on an Orc's birthplace settlement, the chin, neck, shoulders, chest, arm, thigh and leg tattoos are the same for every individual. Their meanings were once necessary for the smaller settlements to distinguish each Orc, but as the colonies got bigger and expanded farther, the meanings were lost and are just relegated to regions. Charon's settlement's tattoos meanings in particular once meant a more strong, violent, good-hunting type of Orc.
Childhood, adolescence, young adulthood:
  • Monti was born into a very interesting circumstance, beyond being a twin. While most Orcs had been getting their tattoos at young ages (6-8 y.o.), Monti's mother was passionate and demanding that her newborn twins could handle the tattooing not soon after they had been cleaned off! Then again, the herbs mothers giving birth ingest are wildly psychotropic and numbing, so that may have factored into her choices...
Whatever the reason, the consequences were immediate: Monti's twin brother, Charon, handled the process so well that this ritual became the new standard. Monti was not so fortunate and passed out, scaring the living daylights out of all the Orcs helping in this occasion-- he recovered just fine, though. But this massive moment changed Monti's life-- and Orckind-- from hereon.
  • While Monti was fortunate enough to be born into wealthy circumstance, since his father was the chief of the largest Orc settlement, his seeming frailty from the tattooing had put a black-mark on how his family treated him. Orcs never beat around the bush, and rumors  from the closest of family members to nosy strangers swirled about how Charon must've taken all of the nutrients in the womb... Monti had kept growing, but never got stronger, and in fact, shied away from finishing his childhood tattoos in a timely manner, as well as having trouble lifting water pails among other Orcish duties.
  • As the young boy turned into a young man, Monti never seemed to outgrow much beyond his previously-short stature. Thin and awkward, the Orc managed to still get picked on, his own family being the first to dole out insults and tussle with him. And while they loved him, he clearly could see that this treatment was unfair. He had no one to confide to, and expected no one to help him.
Adulthood/Current life:
  • As Monti showed at least some great intelligence whenever his family tasked him with paperwork and calculations, as well as his twin, Charon, showing his incompetent laziness, their father Legyas finally let Monti assist him in the inner-workings of the Chief's duties.
  • Life had gone on as normal as it could be for quite a while, until his father gave him up for marriage to a near-stranger [where he had never been given up or offered an arrangement in marriage, as is custom for the important Clan'Ket family], and was given only a week to prepare for this new chapter of his life.
It was a bittersweet moment, as his fiance was The Warrior, Dom'Khar, who he had admired from afar, but the man up close didn't care for him beyond being a glorified servant.
  • After the marriage, Monti found his days extremely busy and stressful, trying to appease this mercurial, callous man that was his husband. It took such a toll on Monti that he, in a fit of rage, attempted to murder Dom'Khar in his sleep, desiring his freedom after months of loneliness and suffering. The honed Warrior, who seemed peacefully asleep only moments before, thought nothing of Monti's amateur attempt and quickly defended himself, but after that night, he took his husband more seriously, finally considering him and slowly warming up to him.
And since that moment, Dom'Khar had looked out for his husband, helping him hone his physical prowess as well as listen to him, Monti started to feel much better, recovering from his pains and frustrations slowly but surely.
  • While his family has not gotten much better about their bullying toward him, having Dom'Khar as his husband has brought much more respect to his name. And with the harmony of their marriage, the Orc had come into his own of being more forward, taking better care of himself and his family-- his husband, refusing to back down as a civil war loomed, threatening to ruin what glorious peace his people had cultivated over centuries. He may be an assistant, but he refuses to work as nothing more than an errand boy, making sure to toss his opinion where he can among council and ambassadors.

Abilities

Unique Abilities

  • Orcish Constitution: Can withstand great physical pain compared to an average human-- while Monti may be weak by Orcish standard, he could still face a human head-on and win in durability, no contest.
Orcish stomachs are made of much stronger stuff and can handle raw foods, and on occasion, bone and stones.
Due to the Orcish Coast's constantly warm-to-hot climate, almost all Orcs can withstand high temperatures (up to 120°F) and high humidity.
Skillset

  • Weapons: Monti is quite adept with spears.
  • Chemist: This Orc is beyond the norm of his people's scientists and is fascinated with the chemical reactions of various ingredients found along the Orcish coast. Monti knows how to concoct crude poisons, acids, and highly flammable liquids.
  • Intelligence: Though it's not uncommon for there to be thoughtful, intelligent Orcs, Monti makes up for his lack of the usual Orcish strength with his smarts. He can calculate many things in his head, multitask paperworks and desk duties with ease.

Relationships

Trivia

  • He was born on July 29th (Leo♌)
  • His husband, Dom'Khar, is known to call him 'little one', and what was once just Charon teasing him by using the nickname as well, turned into everyone else calling Monti that nickname... Inside he's mortified and embarrassed about it, but outwardly he seems pleased that another thing Dom'Khar has done spread like wildfire.
  • Never hesitates to let Charon get berated by others gleefully, but sometimes he'll catch himself and act like he wants to defend his twin brother's honor.
