Bright and always grinning, Duncan has a natural charm that draws people in. Years of being a nobleman has taught him how to be diplomatic and how to be convincing. Underneath his warm demeanor is a bored, depressed man, looking for some sort of purpose in life. He's very passive and tends to let things happen, curious as to where they'd lead. He doesn't have much empathy and isn't adverse to trouble or drama. Whatever happens, happens.

Ignored and neglected in his family home, a young, bored nobleman turned to studies to fill his time. Turns out he had a knack for it, as he got more invested into science and the blurred boundaries between science and magic, quickly becoming a pre-eminent name in the community of science. He got involved in alchemy before finally turning to the illicit study of eternal life.
Originally just meant as an idle way to pass the time, and the danger and potential of the field excited him. However, once you start making waves, people start to notice, and it didn't take long until a strange man knocked on his door.
Do you really want to live forever?
In truth, no, but... he had to admit, the man was interesting. Without much thought, he went with him.
