Taliah

Taliah grew up as the eldest daughter of a poor Scorian family. A common practice of the poorer societies of Anthra was expecting the first born daughter to join the Scorian military to help provide and ensure a comfortable life for their family. Taliah was... not a good fit for this position to say the least, already not being fond of Scorian practices with the treatment her brothers received from guards and other citizens alike. Nonetheless her mother pushed her into pursuing the duty anyway.

Scoria of course are known for being tough, fierce fighters, never to back down from any opponent. Taliah... didn't fit the description. She LOOKED the part, her face always seeming to be resting in a sort of off-putting glare, but her ability to fight was lacking. She did pass training with no issues, actually becoming quite skilled with the standard soldier's halberd in solo practice. However, her sparring matches were embarrassing. She would try her best, but she would become anxious and shaky immediately, unable to will herself to ever land a single blow on an opponent. When confronted she simply said she was afraid of hurting the other girl. This not being incredibly uncommon for a new recruit, was brushed off and training proceeded as normal... But her nervousness facing others never got better. Eventually they chalked it up to not wanting to harm allies and sent her off on an expedition. It ended poorly, even against hostile opponents, she couldn't summon any kind of desire to hurt them, she didn't want to cause anyone harm, resulting in too many injuries, endangering her team, and being placed in a training course for incompetent soldiers.

Her wounds had barely healed before they just deemed her a lost cause, demoting her to basic city patrol and guard duty. Not wanting to become what she hated, and feeling like an embarrassment to her family, she ended up defecting and fleeing, eventually ending up farther than she could have imagined and beginning a new life in Arcturus being in charge of her own flower shop. She thought it suited herself much more.
