C.C. - Crystal Connor - is a feathered dragon, a species that face repression from the angelic community. When Crystal was born, the angelic church orphanage took her in after the headmaster saw it as positive propaganda - if they took in a bastard child, they'd be proving how much of a good community the angels are, out of spite towards the feathered dragons. She had been told her parents abandoned her, leaving her a target to other children who often outcasted her for being half-dragon. In reality, her parents were targetted and killed by the angelic church members.

Dispite her appearance resembling one of an angel, news ran fast in the angel community. The heart shaped spot on her cheek and the oddly shapped puppils gave away her background, since feathered dragons develop marks on their skin that look like tattoos. Years later, when C.C. has developed into a young woman, Wade comes by the church orphanage in search of a test subject for his crystal experiments. The corrupted headmaster of the community offers away the half-breed girl, to whom Wade grows attached to dispite his initial intentions. Always outcasted by the community, Crystal quickly finds refuge in the new demon stranger who treats her differently and offers to take her away, to which she whole-heartedly agrees to. She develops strong romantic feelings for Wade, who had a secret affair with. For a long time, C.C. wasn't aware the demon was already married and unfaithful to his wife. Wade, in turn, found Crystal as his stress relief and emotional refuge as his lifespan quicky grew shorter and shorter due to his experiments. With time their relationship grew tense and abusive, one that Crystal endured until she ran away, leaving him to slowly die at the hands of his own experiments, before she found out she was pregnant with his child.

Heartbroken, C.C. finds herself helpless and with a child she didn't want, until another demon - Amber, a PI investigating Wade's corruption - took her under her wing for questioning. It took the angel time to spill the beans about the father of her child. When she did, she visited Wade one last time, who was bedridden. Emotional and weak, Wade cried when Crystal showed him the grown stomach, and grieved, knowing he'd die before he was ever able to see his child. Amber stuck by Crystal's side when her child was born in a dusty couch of Amber's old refuge, and treated C.C.'s mental illness that resulted from abuse at an early age. The demon woman fell in love with the half-dragon, but C.C.'s heart still yearned for Wade, who was now dead. Amber helped raise Candice when Crystal was mentally unhealthy to raise her baby.
