Design details
- Please use this image as a color ref until I make a proper reference for him. This is very important as I decided to change his skin color a bit so the old pictures are inaccurate in regards to that.
- He always has dark circles below his eyes. Always.

Character
Background
Valerian is the middle one of three brothers; Matthias is six years older than him while Andreas is two-and-a-half years younger.
While in school, despite being quite good, his achievements always got compared to his older brother's ones that were even better. Instead of being motivating, it only built up frustration due to never being good enough. This frustration slowly turnt into dislike towards both his brothers, as Matthias more or less only looked down on him, while Andreas always got told to take his oldest brother as an example - and not Valerian. And no matter what he tried to do, his work never really got appreciated. Not even when he did several extra oral exams to push his A-levels average mark from 2,0 to 1,9...
Of course, the question why he didn't have a girlfriend yet despite being 20 and attending university - while of course his older brother had been in a relationship at his age already - kept haunting Valerian as well... Until he met Natalie. It was love at first sight - for him, at least. He really tried his hardest to impress and appeal to her; inviting her to dinners, making her gifts and buying her whatever she asked for... Obviously, this soon got more expensive than a normal student's wallet could handle, so Valerian looked into ways to quickly make money... And ended up with the most simple solution: gambling. He had quite some streak of luck as well, as he won more than he lost, and could continue to fullfill his crush's wishes.
It seemed like finally -finally!- life was going his way..!
However, this positive view didn't stay for long. Shortly after christmas (and after buying Natalie a special and really expensive necklace), he received a text message by his crush that said that -despite them not even properly dating- it was over. And if that wasn't bad enough already, on New Year's Day he saw a post on social media of her being spending the evening with a new lover.

[ A... mess... ] At first, it was more some kind of lapse; he was feeling awful, Mikael comforted him and... they somehow ended up making out, much to Valerian's own surprise. While it seemed rather healing for Valerian at first, Mikael soon used his trust to mess with him... and it soon turnt into a quite toxic relationship, including blackmailing him for money. Despite that, he still somehow seems to enjoy parts of it.... He is, however, in complete denial of his attraction. |
