Jerard is tired- not just of the state of the world, but of the selfish or bull-headed people within it. He has little time for those who test his patience, which is expended not by those asking dumb questions (As long as they genuinely want to know the answer, Jerard is fine with answering things), but those who must be told things repeatedly or have no desire to fix their ignorance. He is most easily irritated by people who are overly brash or judge others quickly- he just wants people to stop and think for ten fucking seconds please and thank-you. He tries his best to stomach his feelings of annoyance, however; he realizes he is a leader, of sorts, and must get used to having to tolerate those who test his patience for fairness sake. He will make an active attempt to look at situations objectively; Jerard understands his biases, and will try to be aware of them as keenly as possible. He’s also quite literally tired. Jerard sleeps inconsistently, and always in very strange places and positions.

He is willing to listen to multiple viewpoints on matters, and finds picking the brains of and collecting information on other people’s opinions interesting- he likes to understand what makes other people tick. This is not because he wants to exploit this information; at least not consciously. Jerard has a relatively healthy opinion on human relationships, believing quite simply that people should invest time in each other because doing so is a good thing to do- that that should be the reason why we do most things. Because they are what is right, not because they will personally benefit us. Despite this strong moral conviction, Jerard will still listen to those who disagree- in some ways, he wants to hear from them more. He doesn’t understand how you could think differently, and that fuels his curiosity even more so. His view of the world is in a constant state of change- although his core conviction, that human life is precious and should be protected, remains the same, Jerard’s preferred mode of doing so will evolve and adapt due to the situation or new viewpoints he obtains.

He has a natural intelligence about him that lends well to innovation and finding unique resolutions to problems- this additionally extends to his sense of humour. Jerard can be quite witty, and will use his ability to be observant to make jokes, or poke fun at situations. A large part of Jerard’s intelligence comes from his creativity and unique way of viewing the world- his excellent, if unique, memory and recollection of information allows him to find answers where others may not. A drawback of this is that explaining to others how he ended up at a conclusion can be a bit of an effort- when your experience and process is so very different from those around you, there is bound to be issues with communication in this way.

As much as he tries to hold his tongue, if someone has pushed Jerard over the edge, he will not be able to stop himself- a tidal wave of his honest, inner thoughts will tumble out. Even if he only needed to say a little, he would say a lot, often to the personal detriment of his relationships. Jerard is the sort of person to stomach small infringements until they build, only to blind-side a person with a sudden spat of honest malice and frustration once the camel’s back has been broken. This means in an attempt to keep the peace and ‘get over’ little things people have done to him, he sets himself up for a catastrophic blow-out.

When Jerard is working on a project, he is working on it. His usually quite normal, if not strong, patience will be easily tested by those distracting him whilst working. If Jerard is trying to construct an IKEA cabinet and someone keeps chipping in with commentary or advice, he will beat them over the head with one of the wood pieces. When he’s struggling with something, he needs to be left alone- Jerard will ask for help when he wants it, and would prefer if people leave him alone until he requests their guidance. This is because when he can’t solve something, his frustration and obsession with finding the answer or completing the task will only grow and gnaw at him. Even though it might seem nice to offer help, it’s only going to distract and annoy him more. He is also quite protective of both his space and works- both his body and belongings are his and he doesn’t like people touching things that he owns, unless he has given explicit permission to do so. Jerard bites his tongue when it comes to acts of kinship- although he doesn’t like someone suddenly hugging or touching him on the shoulder, he understands they mean well. But borrow one of his pens without his permission? Jerard’s going to be a bit pissy. He just wants people to show common decency and ask.
