(Additional lore in the "fears" section.)
Gay, forest witch Edah makes her own tea, soups and medicine to sell at markets.
She's unknowingly very lonely because she doesn't have real connections with anyone
beyond business. While herb gathering one day, she stumbles upon a weird child laying
under a tree, covered in darkness plants. Azies. She has no idea who or what it is,
but it looks miserable and dying. She visits it every day out of pity, hoping to make
it's final days more bearable. She talks to it, sings it songs and reads it stories.
She shoves a pillow underneath it's head, puts a blanket on it and gives it a plushie.
Meanwhile she meets BEAUTIFUL BUFF WOMAN Arkau, at the market with a gnarly wound
Edah insists on treating for free. (Big simp.) Arkau visits her stand every week after this,
and flirting happens. Back in the forest, Azies suddenly frees themselves and Edah quickly
wraps the injured (now obviously an actual) child in her cape, rushing them home. She
bandages their wounds and with newfound hope, attempts to nurse them back to health.
Letting them sleep on her couch, only waking them up to feed them warm beverages.
She anxiously introduces Azies to Arkau, who immediately unlocks mom-mode
and agrees to raise the traumatized, disabled child with her.
🗨 Quote 🗨
"I'm happy and I have everything I ever wanted but still, there's something missing.
At least I have you now. I like visiting you, and I hope you like it too.
I don't even know if you can really hear me... Blink twice if you can hear me!"

❦ Fears ❦
☠ Allowing preventable harm to happen:
Edah couldn't be happier to raise a child with Arkau. But this comes with
many responsibilities. Edah fears if she's not careful, Azies might get badly injured
or worse. She's seen them at their worst. Collapsed under a tree, rooted to the ground,
all alone in the rain. Helpless, vulnerable, frail and so badly hurt. She never cared how
strange they looked, or how dangerous they could have been. She visited the poor thing
every day. Bringing it gifts, talking to it, singing to it, reading it stories. Because behind
all the darkness, she swore she could see a desperate person. She was surprised to find
the child freed from their roots one day. They were bleeding and unconscious. Her
flame must have been just warm enough to keep them from dying, and granted
them enough strength to pull themselves free. She rushed them home and bandaged
their wounds. Azies slept a lot in the beginning. Exhausted from freeing themselves,
Edah needed to carefully lift them upright and let them lean on her while she fed
them tea and soups. Keeping their flame warm. They could barely move at all.
Edah has seen the true extent of their physical and mental damage. She knows
they depend on her and if anything happens, she'll feel responsible. But as
much as she wants to constantly supervise and protect, she knows the
child needs to develop skills on their own. They must go outside,
discover the world and make friends to play with.
☠ Not helping enough:
Edah has a tendency to take on more responsibilities than she should.
She deeply cares for people whom she doesn't even really know. Some people don't
want to be helped and others happily exploit compassion. But Edah can't stop caring.
☠ Losing her family:
For years Edah lived quite the lonely life. She interacted with many people
while selling her products on markets, but unknowingly longed for a deeper connection.
Someone to talk to about anything other than just tea and herb business. Once she met Azies,
she finally realized something had been missing. Soon after this sudden epiphany she met a
strange woman at the market, who refused to explain the massive bitemark on her arm.
Edah insisted on treating it against infections, for free. Eventually the woman agreed and
introduced herself as "Arkau." Edah was fascinated by her secrecy and strong physique.
They said their goodbyes but would meet again many times after. They fell in love, and soon
the market wasn't their only meeting spot anymore. Edah anxiously introduced Azies to Arkau,
who immediately agreed to raise the child together. And so, they became a family.
Arkau and Azies matter more to her than anything else in the world.
Sometimes she has nightmares in which she loses them.

❦ Fun facts ❦
- Edah has an uncanny amount of similarities to Eda Clawthorne from The Owl House.
An instrument playing, found family witch living in a forest. Even their color palettes are similar.
Strangely enough, Edah is NOT a reference. Edah was written before I ever saw The Owl House.
(I kinda suspect a certain LisyLupikus knew EXACTLY what was happening and just
didn't say anything for science purposes hahahaha jk.)
- Edah was originally designed by LisyLupikus who had one idea for the character. "She's gay."
We decided to make her the mother figure for my character, Azies, which set the fleshing
out process in motion. I had endless steams of ideas and head canons
all of which she loved. So we ended up co-writing Edah.
