A family of bovine tribescreatures adopt a lost child of light named Arkau. She wears
a bovine mask to fit in with the tribe. Since childhood, Arkau's been an overachiever.
Amazing at martial arts. A big part of the tribe's culture. As she grows up she joins
the tribe's army to become a warrior. After years of successful battles, her stepsibling
tragically dies. Arkau is so depressed about this that she retires from the army and
takes on the role of gathering resources. She meets a witchy lady at the market,
selling medicine. Edah. Who relentlessly insists on treating a big bitemark on
her arm for free. Arkau reluctantly agrees. Embarrassed, but captivated by the kind
gesture, she finds herself ending up at Edah's stand regularly. Enchanted by the witch.
She begins jokingly flirting with Edah and soon the two visit each other's homes. One day,
Edah introduces Arkau to a child, covered in darkness plants and wrapped in bandages,
on her couch. Azies. Arkau is overcome with urges to protect and care for the child.
Soon she moves in to help raise and rehabilitate them with Edah.
Officially starting a brand new chapter in her life.

☠ Not being good enough:
Arkau was adopted by a family of bovines from the Bovine Tribe. Eternally grateful
for them, she wears a bovine mask to resemble the creatures. From a young age
she was great at martial arts. An overachiever. Her skill and passion led to her
joining the bovine army. She was a great fighter. So great that whenever something
didn't go as great as expected, she would beat herself up about it for days. She
tends to put expectations way up high for herself and assumes others expect the
same of her. She'll tune out her exhaustion, pushing herself way harder than
she should, not realizing her own self-destructive behavior. Failing to
meet her own, or other people's expectations is devastating for her.

☠ Losing loved ones:
Arkau tragically lost her stepsibling on the battlefield. She has lost people before,
but this death hit harder than any other. She struggled so much with the grief that she
decided to lay her weapons down and resign from fighting. After spending a month
isolated in her hut, she took on the responsibility of flying out to markets and gathering
resources. She met a witchy lady named "Edah" selling medicine. Edah relentlessly insisted
on treating a bitemark on her arm for free. It was humiliating but so nice of her. Arkau
couldn't stop thinking about it and soon found herself at Edah's market stand again.
This became routine for them. They would meet on the market and talk every week.
Eventually they started flirting and visiting each other outside of the market. Suddenly,
Edah stopped visiting and didn't show at the market anymore. Concerned, Arkau made
her way over to Edah's house. She was shocked to see Arkau and nervously explained
how she took someone in and has been busy caring of them. This is when Arkau
met Azies. The sight of the child shocked her. Bedridden and severely injured.
They were so frail, weak and helpless. She saw her past self looking back at her.
Restraining herself from hugging the child and never letting anything hurt them ever
again, she agreed to help rehabilitate and raise Azies. She quickly moved in with the two.
She grew out her hair to signify this new chapter in her life. It was exactly what she needed.
But she knows how suddenly the life of a loved one could end. She knows
of threats that prevent rebirth and end lives prematurely.

☠ Redstone shards:
Arkau knows about the dangers of redstone. It's shards can be smithed into weapons.
Wielding such weapons is highly unethical and those caught using them, risk execution
at the hands of their own tribe. They are made to cause corruption. Corruption is the painful
process in which a light being gets consumed by darkness, but is kept somewhat alive as a
shell of their former selves. They lose their memories and revert back to very basic instincts.
Devoid of light, they instinctually try consuming light from light beings. Corrupted
people of light can't be reborn, and like all other light beings, their souls get stuck in orbit.
The only way they can ascend and die peacefully, is when their corrupted shell dies.
All this can happen when redstone punctures the skin a person of light, or simply
touches a light creature. Arkau willingly avoids all shard eruptions and
tells everyone to be very careful when cleansing them.

- Arkau is a morning person and goes on early hikes around the forest
during sunrise. She burns every single darkness plant she finds.
Making sure Azies doesn't run into them while playing outside.

- Much to Edah's dismay, Arkau has a habit of swearing like a sailor. She
tries her best not to swear around Azies, but sometimes things slip through.

- Arkau coincidentally sounds a lot like "Our cow."
Now you can't unhear this. You're welcome lmao.

- Arkau's was originally based on the song "Surface Pressure" from "Encanto."
Personally I associate her a lot with Aurora's "Warrior."

- This currently isn't canon, but I love to imagine the Bovine Tribe and thus Arkau,
have a Southern American accent because funny cowboy reference yeehaw! :D

- LisyLupikus came up with most of the base concepts for Arkau. Being an adopted child
and a warrior. We co-wrote about her new life as a partner and a mom. We thought it
would be adorable to have this big, strong, warrior woman act very loving and sweet.
