Rory is a bit awkward due to his passions towards academics. He's just a nerd. 

Rory may not be very conventional in his tastes, but he tends to keep his interests to himself. He believes its best to keep in line and follow social guidelines and decencies. He still can't help but love to stand out in a crowd with his nice clothes and fancy look. It makes him feel young again.

Rory finds he romance in life very easily: in histories, poems, nature, studies, people. He likes to enjoy them quietly by himself. He loves to travel, but he's "iffy" about going "too far" from his comfort zone. He's satisfied with any big open spaces: hilly scenes with beautiful views. They allow for the most seclusion and creativity. Perfect for studying or writing or pondering life's mysteries. He's honestly not too adventurous even if he pretends he is, not as he ages, at least. He used to be pretty wild! Rory has basically settled down except for expressing his love of fashion and romance. 

History

Rory comes from a fairly wealthy family. He probably didn't have to work a day in his life, but his love for academia was too strong. So he went through schooling and became a professor to further his research. He studies anywhere from the classics to medieval history. He has a particular fascination with the scandalous stories that took place throughout history (loves scandalous of the past but he's a prude himself). He now teaches at Oxford and writes research papers on his particular interests. In his free time, Rory aspires to be a poet. He tends to write very romantic things that he cannot express outwardly. 

Rory used to be very wild and outgoing when he was younger in his school days, but he has come to take his position very seriously and does not wish to compromise it, so it takes great affect on his personality and actions. He doesn't even marry because of his position at the University (whether that's what he wanted or not, and of course, he wants to! He's a romantic!). 

He's a lonely man, but for the most part, he quite enjoys the solitude. He finds romance in it like he does everything else.
