Oneiros' parents were both born in Wild Equines. Deafening Silence was his mother, who was an incredibly vain assassin who frequently donated her womb to stallions she deemed powerful. His father was a stallion named Cyrus, the son of two traditionally Dark parents who raised him to be a fighter who was rough around the edges. Deafening Silence and Cyrus met through their mutual relations to Dark Woods and hit it off, Silence being attracted to Cyrus' rough exterior and deeming him a powerful sire for her children. The two of them left the lands of Wild Equines to strike their own path in the wilds outside of their familiar home. While out there, they met dozens and dozens of different herds and different groups of horses, all with their own traditions and customs. Eventually, they settled into one land with no alliance system and a reigning monarchy. However, the monarchy was weak and Oneiros' parents saw it as the perfect opportunity to weasel their way into power.

It was a slow gradual process, buddying up with the King and Queen, slowly gaining their trust while Silence murdered dissidents and other political opponents. Eventually the lies and manipulations came to be too much, and the lands errupted into war. This war ended with the entire Royal family slaughtered. Silence and Cyrus had not planned on such an event happening but they went with it and took over the war-torn lands and presented themselves as stable leaders for the region. No one was fit enough to challenge them and so they stayed in power.

The lands they ruled over were not very big and did not include many equines - especially after the war - but they enjoyed the power that they had. Eventually they had a son together who they named Oneiros. He was their prized possession and they doted on him. He got everything he ever wanted and had groups and groups of friends to play and gossip with. If someone annoyed him, he ordered their execution without a second thought. He was raised believing that this was the way that things worked. As he got older, his parents started teaching him how to fight, though he was much better at manipulation and sweet-talking. He made an ideal spy and gathered information from other territories that his parents wanted to conquer. Eventually, the years passed and they had the numbers to attack a neighboring territory and took over their lands and people. These lands were filled with horses that had human made attachments and Oneiros acquired his own when he made his first kill in the battle against their neighbors.

Over time, he began to get more influence over the things that happened in his territory. He began to practice with war tactics and ordering soldiers around. He also began to see more suitors - male and female, it made no difference to him. His parents finally had their second child when Oneiros was four years old, a daughter that they named Mache. Oneiros was unsure how to feel about his little sister, finding her precious sometimes and annoying enough to kill at others. He eventually decided to like her when she was a year old. But living in lands that had undergone a war left many unsatisfied and angry horses, and it wasn't long before the people began to rebel. Assassination attempts were made. Oneiros' father was the first to fall. Silence, instead of doing the smart thing and fleeing with her children while they had the chance, decided to stand and fight back. She died as she lived, screaming defiance at her attackers. Oneiros and Mache cowered in a cave while the horses ravaged the countryside. Eventually, the two of them escaped during the cover of darkness. They ran far, far away. Oneiros decided to go to the land where his parents came from - Wild Equines.

It took a long time to reach Wild Equines and it took much longer with a yearling traveling companion. Mache was silent and sullen most of the time and while Oneiros cared for her, he knew that traveling with him was not the life for her. He found her to be baggage and believed that casting her aside to a nomadic group of mares was better for her than leaving her to suffer by his side for the rest of her life. He dumped her off and never looked back, believing that she would be just fine. When he finally reached the threshold of Wild Equines, he stepped into the land with glee, wondering what experiences awaited him here.

He went immediately to the Free lands upon his arrival on Wild Equines, exploring every nook and cranny of the lands. He started many conversations with others and got to know about the politics and ins and outs of the land. Upon venturing into the volcanic region dubbed Mount Malvolia, he met a demon mare named Baphomet and another horse named Absinthe. During his adventures, he also ran into the lands of Eden, the apparent gateway between the living and the dead. Here, he came upon Lady Grey, the Lady of the Damned. The two of them had a rather intimate night together that resulted in a daughter named Persephone. He was then enchanted to return to Eden to meet a mare named Lady Noire. Afterward, he traveled upon the Free lands more and was tempted into taking a rather dangerous path by a passerby. He attempted to cross a frozen river and nearly drowned doing so, only saved from himself and his daredevil tendencies by a mare named Evanska, who was revealed to be a seraph - another kind of afterlife creature. He also met a mare named Tallulah in the Freelands of Crystal Pools. He learns that she is a lead of one of the Neutral Kingdom territories. The two of them eventually sleep together and he unknowingly fathers one of her children.

Oneiros continues to roam the Freelands and hears of a race event being held in one of them. Intrigued, he decides to participate. However, the terrain is a dangerous trek over frozen water and he watches one of the racers fall in. Deciding that his life is more important than any race, he forfeits it and wanders off. After the race, he is met by one of the participants, a stallion named Ikaros. Several months later, he attends a blind date event held in Eden. He is paired up with a young stallion named Cledwyn. Oneiros is entertained by the entire thing, which makes it worth it. Months later, he meets a mare named Samara in the Freelands and charms the mare into bed as well and the two of them have a conversation afterward where he learns of her origins and her lost jewelry.
