Oleander is bound to Heather, wherever she is, they go too. The woods of the Gloomy Forest are where they wander now, picking off anything unfortunate enough to cross their path.

Heather has begged them to curb their violent behaviour and so they have tried to be more merciful, namely to the children that Heather seems to love so.

Oleander was not a Kamishiba. They were not a Lopdiemis either. They were simply The Shadow in the woods. A dark form that floated through the woods, terrifying any that crossed their path. Well, any that could see them. Strangely, one a few creatures have been able to see them.

One such creature was the Kamishiba known as Heather. They had watched as the young Kami had been left in the woods by another, a cruel act but Oleander watched quietly. They had expected the young Heather to find her way back to her home but she never did. And she could see them. She was wary of them initially but as the days dragged on, she began to warm up, talking to the shadow that watched over her. She spilled her heart and secrets to the shadow and something in Oleander awakened. A protective urge, so deeply buried that not even they knew of it until it awoke. They wanted nothing more than to keep her safe. But Heather was dying, exhaustion, exposure, and starvation finally wearing her down. They approached her and made their offer. Perhaps she didn’t know what she was getting into or perhaps she was just so tired. But Heather agreed.
