Lorenzo is a clumsy 2-bit gangster who is a brash and formidable fighter, yet trips over his own feet all the time. He is the ringleader of a small band of "soldiers" (lowest ranking in the mafia hierarchy after associates), and has never really tried to move up from his current position.

His father abandoned them when his mother was pregnant with him, which made his mother curse his existence as he is a reminder and spitting image of the man she loathes. She abused him throughout his childhood, even attempting to drown him in the bathtub once. After his mother's death due to prolonged illness when he was 10, he became a street rat, mugging to feed himself and partaking in illegal street fights.

One fated day while in the middle of a fight, a Capo of the Cesare famiglia noticed his strength and skill and invited him to be part of the family, giving him the surname Fortuna (because he hates both his parents and says he doesn't have a last name). The capo also gave him a single coin which he treasures, representing his change of luck and the start of his fortune. Because of this, he views the Capo as his saviour and swears undying loyalty to him.

Acts tough and self assured but deep down is very insecure.
