Niruphma is charismatic and personable when it counts, full of easy smiles and casual manipulation. With smaller audiences though, he can be rather aloof, condescending, and arrogant. He takes his position and responsibilities very seriously, but this makes him impatient/intolerant of mistakes (others’, as well as his own) and quick to criticise.
After a bunch of Bad Things Happen, Niruphma forcibly takes over as Lord Govenor of Lihiel to quickly restore order and expediate restructuring and rebuilding efforts. To the north, however, Sorrael is encroaching on Haevelin's mountain borders and war slowly becomes an inevitability.

History
Niruphma had always worked hard to live up to the expectations and responsibilities of his title. It is his job to be the perfect heir, to relieve his mother King of the crown she never wanted or planned to inherit.
While truly devoted to his country and genuinely living to serve, this pressure gave way to a teenaged arrogance and superiority complex gave him an increasingly callous reputation. With few exceptions, his relationships with others were shallow and predicated by the roles they played in society.
Zacchi was one such exception.

Jhornu Siscoren, First Princess of Haevelin. Niruphma's only cousin, who would be heir to the throne if not for circumstantial timing. They both may or may not be bitter about this.
