Even humans will become beasts for the sake of living.

Affectionately called "Lucy" by his kinda-friend, Rupert, Luciano is a rather quiet, self-contained man who prefers to skip the bullshit and cut right to the chase, so to speak, with regards to just about everything: work and play. Well. Play is rather rare for this one. He isn't necessarily unkind, mind you, just... Well, remember Alec from Reddit Cloaks? Imagine that sort of trauma/neurodivergence-informed self-centeredness, plus his awkward attempts to be polite and kind, minus the horrific psychological abuse... Kind of. He isn't an abuser, but Luciano has been known to be occasionally quite vicious in his selfishness, and dishonest. This is one of the things that leads to his eventual spiral into misery.

Personality

  • Selfish
  • Obliviously inconsiderate
  • Cold
  • Well-Intentioned
  • Lonely
  • Serious

As said above, Luciano is, at his core, selfish - but he doesn't mean to be. He is not spoiled or cruel, he is not knowingly rude or hurtful to others, but he has gone so long without having to worry about the effects of his words and actions on others, that he seems to be clueless that consequences even exist if he just "is himself." This is problematic, primarily regarding his work companion and sort-of-friend, Rupert, who is a well-adjusted person for the most part, if a bit dependent on others for his self-esteem, and responds reasonably to feeling like his friend doesn't actually like him: with confusion and sadness. But Rupert is also polite and kind, nervous about making too many waves (heh), so he doesn't call Luciano out for being kind of a dick, and therefore Luciano assumes everything is fine, because he tends to only really think of himself.

Skills & Abilities

Sense of Direction
Luciano doesn't tend to get lost on the high seas, but ESPECIALLY not on land. That is because he would like to get the hell off of dry land as soon as possible, but still - it's a strength of his that comes in handy, he's directionally rather gifted, good at analyzing nature and architecture both in assessing where to go in order to finish a task.

Singing
You'll think you've died and gone to heaven once you've heard him singing - but he's shy, he only does it when he thinks he's alone, or when no one is listening. Naturally, he thinks he's terrible at it, to some degree.

Summary

[wip! i wanna figure this out and make it more like a typical seaside horror story]

Likes + Dislikes

Savory foods, string music, singing, sea air, sleeping (soundly), the color black, shiny and glittery things, being alone

Most people, being bothered or saddled with social obligations, sleeping (or simply being) on dry land, being unable to get plenty of alone time

Strengths + Weaknesses

+ Diligence, courage, patience, a pretty singing voice, more-or-less moral goodness, unshakable strength in the face of people trying to push him around

Fear of opening up to people, unintentional inconsiderateness/rudeness, inability to think of others, tendency to shoulder all his burdens alone

Themesong

The Forest of Morality - Asaki No'9 [MEIKO]

Trivia

  • He came to me in a dream. He confessed his crimes at a child's birthday party, in the form of an elaborate story - pacing around the dark waters of a strange, menacing pool. By this point, he was basically movie villain-level cold.
  • The "->NG" part of his alignment tab is there because I want him to get better once he's dead. I dunno if he becomes a good person while he's still alive. Or, I mean - if he confesses, it might be a step in the right direction, but he will definitely be executed for murdering an innocent man in cold blood.
