Summary of Childhood: 

Born to a drug addict mother, Debris’ earliest years were spent being neglected. Her birth mother was always more concerned with getting her next fix instead of prioritizing her daughters well being. She’d endure 7 years of verbal abuse, time outs spent in a dark closet, and many a night without meals before anyone was finally made aware of the situation, only ending after her mother was busted with possession.

Debris was immediately taken into child protective services and would begin a trend for the next few years of being placed with a foster family, only to run away as soon as she saw the opportunity. It was during one of these stints on the run that she’d end up in a fist fight with one of Brenda Nightly’s sons.  After breaking up the brawl and recognizing her as a missing system kid, the concerned mother decided she’d try to earn the poor girl’s trust. She’d bring her into her home to clean up her busted lip and offer her a meal, telling her she’s free to come back any time if she gets hungry.

At first it didn’t seem as if her plan would work. A week went by without any sign of Debris taking up her offer. Brenda was just about ready to give up and just call authorities to tell them she was in the area when the poor girl finally showed up on her doorstep looking at her feet. Debris would come and go from there, showing up every couple of days to eat dinner before disappearing into the night. Eventually she’d even begin to stay over, sleeping on the couch or in one of the chairs, only to wake up early and take off.

A few weeks of this would continue, Brenda being careful not to pressure Debris into anything she wasn’t comfortable with or say something that might scare her away until she felt sure a sense of trust had been established. Finally she decided it was time to take the risk and one night after supper she sat down with Debris and told her she knew she was actually a runaway. She’d tell the then panicked girl that she’d been a foster parent to kids in the past and explained how she understood how stressful it is to be placed in a home with people you don’t know.

She then offered the young girl a choice “You can leave and go back on the run, or you can let me make an arrangement for you to live here. You can still come and go as you want, but at least you won’t be considered a runaway anymore.” Brenda hoped that since Debris had been able to get to know the Nightly family on her own terms, it’d make the idea of living with them a little easier to deal with. 

And with a great sense of relief she’d come to find that her patience had paid off. Debris would agree and from then on the rabbit would become a staple of the Nightly Household..

Current Age:

As time went on Debris would eventually be made a full fledged member of the family. She’d take on the Nightly last name and after a while even start calling Brenda Mama like the rest of the kids. Her childhood still wasn’t perfect, but it was one she’d chosen instead of one that’d been forced upon her.

Debris would grow up tough. When her foster father returned home from serving in the military he quickly became a role model she strove to emulate and he accepted her just as entirely as the rest of his kids. 

Unfortunately in time Jack Nightly would end up involved in an organization called the Phoenix Alliance where he’d eventually end up losing his life fighting for the freedom of Alabask’s people. Debris would seek out the leader of the alliance that got her Pops killed but instead of picking a fight, Ryder would convince her to join them and take up the mantle her father left behind.
