A sweet little boy who just wants to have fun, Plant is the true embodiment of childhood innocence. This sweet little sprout wanted nothing more than to learn, explore, love and make friends. Such innocent desires lead him to learn what family really meant, but when they were striped froom him he had no one to teach him what it meant to grieve.

Plant is the spitting image of your usual Snivy aside from his ginger eyes that he inherited from his mother. The massive, expressive spheres are his only feature outside of normal coloration. He has, however, found other ways to set himself apart with a set of trinkets he has acquired. Plant has decked himself out in a red Pokemon's sweater, which hides a fading burn scar on his right side. He wears the hood both up and down, with his yellow shoots randomly poking inside or out. In the pocket he keeps a jumbled Rubix Cube, and hidden beneath the sweater is a small silver necklace around his neck.

Important Design Notes:

  • Ginger colored eyes.
  • A red, oversized sweater (hood can be drawn up or down), yellow curls can be drawn outside or hidden inside.
  • Either very happy innocent child or completely despondent with grief.

The Tiniest Sprout

On the northern half of Kanto's Route 2 a Pokemon egg lay abandoned. Its parents, a brave Servine and Roselia, had valiantly fought for its safety but both perished defending their unborn child. Their bodies had long since been dragged away and eaten by the time it was ready to hatch, the violence already fading from the landscape. The baby, a precious Snivy, hatched alone.

Blinking at the touch of the sun the child drew in the world around him. It was beautiful, wonderful, amazing, yet something was wrong. A deep instinct told him that there should of been... something, waiting for him. Puzzled, the Snivy waited for whatever that something was, carefully hiding away close to his hatch-place in apprehension. He was patient, sitting quietly and photosynthesizing, but he grew restless from waiting as all children do. When he couldn't stand it any longer the child ventured out to explore the forested route, positive that he could find this thing he was looking for. There were few venturous Pokemon in the area, probably thinking that a forest was a dangerous hideout, but the ones who resided there were kind to the young Pokemon. They told him he was a Snivy among other things, a rare Pokemon for that region, and that he was looking for "family" or something, and the current epidemic that was terrorizing the world. The innocent child didn't care about, or simply didn't understand, the danger they tried to warn him about. Everything seemed happy to him aside from missing his family. He didn't understand why he didn't have a 'mother' or 'father' or why those he talked to ran away when they finished talking, so he sat down and gave it a hard think.

He was green, and his tail was a leaf. His body smelled like the grasses around him and he could even make leaves. The sun was like food to him, just like the plants around him.. Suddenly it became to clear to the child: he must be the baby of the plants! A special Plant, that was what he was! With that, he named himself Plant, a child of the forest. Nature was his family, the trees, shrubs, and even the sky, and this satisfied him. Pleased and brimming with childly innocence, Plant set off to play, scampering around the forest like some sort of wild thing. Looking for anything that seemed fun he found that in the form of the nearby abandoned town. What could be more fun then a city full of collapsed buildings? With so many stone towers and and odd objects he was going to have the greatest time ever! The grass type explored the abandoned territory with excitement, always knowing his forested family and home was nearby.

Precious Child - - RP - -

After a while going home to the forest at night grew tiresome for the child. He found a nice copse of trees right in Pewter and made that his nest. Living alone in the city, as no one seemed to want a screaming child's company, and learning it like the back of his green hand, Plant was surprised when Pokemon he had never seen before started to show up. One was a Snover (Verglas) and another was an Ariados (Violet). The Pokemon quickly became his friends and, without realizing it at first, even more for Plant. The Ariados grew to be a mother to him and the Snover, a brother. Heart soaring at his new discovery of what family really was Plant relished in this feeling he had pined for for so long.

This new joy made it all the more heartwrenching when a terrible accident happened. For the most part the cold stone city was not attractive to undead, but not that day. After fleeing from an argument with his new mother Plant trudged back to where he left her with an apology planned. He never really had to say sorry before that, but instead of pouring his heart out to her, it fell to his stomach as he found the spider in the claws of an undead Sandslash. With the Snover's help the children managed to defeat the Sandslash, but it was already too late.

She died not long after in the youths arms, leaving Plant alone with his adoptive brother. While he still had a companion the loss hit him hard. Harder then anything he had ever felt before. Plant broke down; screaming, crying, and fighting in grief that he did not understand. He received a burn, both physically and metaphorically, and was forced to stop his grieving rampage before he got himself killed. Offering the child only a short period of mourning Verglas announced that he needed to keep moving in search of humans, threatening to leave the starter completely alone once more. Frightened by that prospect the Snivy agreed to join him when a massive rainstorm hit. The children were waiting out the weather when more Pokemon arrived in the desolate town along with a ruthless undead Kabutops, the latter probably driven out by the rain. While the newcomers fought the demon the boys took the chance to escape, pain gnawing at Plant's heart with each step. With rain pouring down around them he said goodbye. Goodbye to his home, to his fighting new friends, to his mother, and everything he thought he knew.

Unprotected Innocence

The pair continued to travel, meeting new Pokemon and seeing new places, as they searched for humans in Verglas' rescue mission. But as the days ticked by things seemed to be getting harder and harder; Verglas' condition kept deteriorating and their journey brought them to unsavory and straight up dangerous places. Pokemon would chase them away, or try to take the sick Snover away from Plant, so the kids kept running until they wound up, beaten and exhausted, in Laverre City. Staying with a tattered group who had already suffered through hardship it finally happened; they ran into a human. An apprehensive light started to shine on their journey, the treasure found and rescue soon to begin.

But it was not to be. In a moment of high emotion Plant traipsed away from Verglas, and the sickly Snover wandered off. Panic and deja vu swarmed the Snivy's body, memories of Violet assaulting him, and when he found Verglas the scene played again in real time. This time around he could not fight off the attacker, and after sustaining damage himself the Snover died in his arms. With his mission dissolving, home sounding empty, purpose lost, and family gone, Plant found himself alone in the foreign town, sinking deep in the pits of despair and unsure of what to do next. Burying the last of his family the Snivy broke, a hollow shell of himself with no will to go on.

Innocent Plant

| Sweet Summer Child | Innocent | Curious | Lively | Happy | Sweet as a Button | Kindhearted | Generous | Easily Amused | Eager | Brave | Proud of Himself | Childish/Expectedly Immature | Gentle and Kind | Wants to be Friends | Trusting | Spookable | Easily Influenced/Trusting |

This sweet little child managed a happy albeit lonely childhood without the aid of others. With an insatiable curiosity driving him forward Plant learned and explored all he could on his own. He made everyday an adventure, finding amusement in the smallest things and awe simply in being alive. Everything was a game, and the carefree life made for a happy and imaginative boy. However, without someone to teach him or contradict what he's learned Plant's personal knowledge is highly limited and full of assumptions/misconceptions. Most the time he runs off of instinct, curiosity, and emotion, and luckily its worked thus far.

A social butterfly without a flock Plant adores company. He loves to make other Pokemon smile and will go out of his way to achieve this. His lonely life made him eager to befriend any new Pokemon he met, and while no one taught him what sharing was this sweetie will gladly give all he has to make a new friend. After all, his possessions are little beyond trinkets from his made up games, and with few hardships, responsibilities, or any real valuables, Plant never learned to hoard or be selfish. He would show off and help in any way he could, and be even more amazed by what he learned from the other Pokemon.

Plant knows that living alone is unusual for a child, and as such he's pretty proud himself. He's accomplished and learned a lot in his short life (to his own standards), but he's not a prideful Pokemon. As much as he loves showing off what he's learned being shown up or disproved only sparks awe in the child instead of frustration, and his willingness to learn/listen makes for an eager student. He's easily influenced by those he trusts, but he can get distracted easily and be forgetful, so lessons often get cut short.

He's not a perfect gentlemen by any means though. Without parents to tell him no Plant never learned what authority was. He likes pleasing others, but he's not used to being told what to do from a firm hand, and gets temperamental when he's denied something on a path to his goals. It's difficult for him to know how to react, and whining or refusal becomes an easy go-to reaction. The boy strives for things that are heartfelt and personal, and anything that gets in the way of those goals becomes a threat.

Loss after Loss

| Heavily Grieving | Overwhelmed by Emotions | Emotionally Unstable/Tantrums/Sobbing Fits | Homesick | Despondent | Lost | Hopeless | Heartbroken | Painfully Lonely | Shameful/Blames Himself | Quiet | Hardly Smiles | Moodswings | Somber | Constantly Lost in Thought | Catatonic |

[ After departing from Pewter ] An innocent bean feels the pain of a broken world, and recently life hasn't been so kind to the sweet boy. Ever since Violet's death he's been plagued with horrible nightmares, and often wakes up in tears. His sleep quality is poor now, and life on the road hasn't helped this. He's never been this far from Pewter, and homesickness is really taking its toll on him. New terrains are exciting but painful as he's forced to rapidly learn how to handle them. Long spurts of travel on the tired boy have severely dropped off his energy levels, and he's become pretty sluggish for one normally so high energy. He has a growing fear of fire since his burn in Pewter, and even friendly fire types are met with weary glances. While flora is normally a comfort to him being in a strange place is still rather terrifying, even if its a soothing forest. He is slowing growing more cautious during exploration, finding a lot of things to be more dangerous then he had originally believed.

In times like these he longs greatly for his mother's comforting touch. He had only just learned the joys of family, a feeling he had been longing to understand since hatching, only to have it stripped away. Being forced to learn loss has been a harsh, overwhelming reality for this young boy. He may have grieved over Violet's death but the mourning was interrupted and many of his feelings went unresolved. With no proper outlet or closure the emotions threaten to choke him and often cloud his judgement when they surface. With this and so many other new, intense emotions bogging him down Plant has grown to have outbursts, yelling and crying over things he just can not process. He's become much more whiny and childlike oddly enough, and will even attack others when venting his frustrations. He was always a trusting child, but too many Pokemon misused that trust in a bid to take Verglas from him. He's learned not to be so foolish with a growing fear in strangers. New Pokemon are now met with skepticism, and any speech on the dangers of undead fall upon death ears.

Brave Little Verglas

[ Blood Brother ] Sometimes family is what you make of it, and these children knew that better than anyone. Having bonded over a tragic event these two were as close as it gets, true brothers even if no blood was shared between them. Plant never judged the Snover's appearance or illness, thinking nothing of it to the very end. Other Pokemon didn't understand his relationship with the Snover, and though he swore up and down and tried to explain he is safe and harmless strangers continuously try to separate the boys. It was frightening, panic inducing, and has driven a wedge of distrust into the Snivy. Despite his affinity for new friends Plant found himself running from groups with Verglas more often than staying with them.

Verglas was his lifeline through everything. He took him out of his home and showed him the world without fear. Plant tried to match the Snover's bravery step for step, and he defended him physically and verbally from all that called him a monster. He had never felt so close or protective of another Pokemon before in his life, and not being able to protect the Snover when he needed him most has left him deep in despair. He failed his only family, both of them even, and can't even enact his dying wish. Without Verglas he really has no direction left in life- Pewter is tainted with Violet's blood, traveling is dangerous and lonely, and staying still sinks him deep in his own mind. Grief is no longer a new feeling but its hit Plant harder than ever before. He's struggling to see a future beyond this pain, one without his family, and can barely function beyond basic tasks in his sorrow. Drowning in his own emotions Plant has become a very somber boy, sluggish, quiet, tearful, and nearly catatonic as he tries to process his pain.

(Plant was aware of the Snover's condition to some degree; Verglas seemed to be getting more tired and distant as time went on, as well as giving off a harsh scent of mold. It was difficult to have any conversation with what was basically a stump, and guidance on where to go was slim to none. He showed similar signs to the undead but Plant swore it wasn't the same thing. It was highly concerning, but the poor child dared not bring it up, nor did he know what to do about it. Either way, the boys never talked about his disease and Plant was highly protective of his brother and refused to acknowledge him as anything but family.)

Sweater Weather

[ Trinkets ] On the day of his departure Plant picked up all of his trinkets from the last house he visited in his home town of Pewter. He had exploroed a number of houses before, messing with items and objects to tease his curious mind, but it wasn't until he saw Verglas' armband that he wanted to take something with him. His red sweater actually belonged to an overweight Pikachu some time ago, and little yellow hairs could even be seen on it. The Rubix Cube was it's masters, and puzzles Plant to no end.
The necklace was meant as a gift and, ironically, fufilled its purpose when it was given to plant. Of the three items its the most important one to him, as it was a gift from Verglas and a reminder of Violet. He treasures it greatly to the point of hiding it beneath his sweater.

Lilly the Snivy

[ Big Sis ] Plant's older sister. He doesn't know she exists. While he was an egg Lily was all over him, protecting 'little eggy' and gently playing with it as though he had already hatched. They probably would have been very close had he hatched with her.

Bull Rush the Servine

[ Big Bro ] Plant's older brother. He doesn't know he exists.

Snivy

Other Notes:

  • Father was a Roselia (named Thorn), and he passed Magical Leaf down to all his children.
  • He 'worships' trees. Without anyone to teach him about legends or really the concept of worship/gods/higher powers he has learned to look up. Literally. The biggest, strongest trees are like beacons of strength and knowledge, and while not a real religion its all Plant has ever known.
  • After receiving a bad burn in his grief stricken rampage Plant has a growing distaste/fear of flames. Let it be dangerous or controlled he does not like to see them, and fire type Pokemon ('firestarters') are just as bad.
  • Plant got his eye color from his mother, and its the only feature that one could use to recognize him.
