Personality: 

As is, a lot of Valerie's personality and motivations are affected by depression and anxiety. Talking with others is something of a struggle, and oftentimes she has to be pushed just to leave the house. Even while inside she spends most of her time in her room, (mostly) content to be in her own little world while chaos rains just out the door. When she does get up and around, however, Valerie is someone who moves with purpose! If there are errands to do she'll do them, if there's places to go she'll go there. Heck, if there's a fight to win she'll do her best to make it out on top to win! Is she doing all of this to impress someone? Who knows! All that matters is that Valerie needs to get things done.

Backstory:

Valerie didn't exactly have the best of childhoods. Her father, Hunter, came from a rich family and took pride in having a pure bloodline. Her mother, Catherine, came from an average middle-class family, hoping to find a better future for herself than just a normal and easily forgotten life. The two eventually met and got married and, in the moment, it seemed that both of them had what they wanted. However, unbeknownst to Hunter, his beloved wife was actually a hybrid herself who was simply disguising herself as a plain Servine

They hid her existence for as long as possible the best they could, keeping Valerie busy with household chores for as long as possible. On lucky days, Valerie was able to escape without her parent's knowledge, going on little 'adventures' whenever she could. One day, on one of these expeditions, Valerie had found an old storybook in a library. She had fallen in love with the idea of heroic Pokemon saving the day, and had especially connected to the story of the keys. She stole the book and took it home, rereading it over and over and over, hoping that one day these stories would come true and someone would come to save her.

When she was 15, she saved herself and ran away from home. She hid in the forest, eventually encountering a hybrid named Flick who accidentally revealed to her the existence of Dark Pokemon and a secret rebellion up in the mountains. Valerie could hardly believe it! The story that she had held onto for so long was true!

After a bit of a scuffle with Flick, she escaped again, heading for the mountains. On her journey there, she met a kind Pokemon named Beta who helped her on the journey there. Once they reached the mountains, Nelvana greeted them and lead Valerie to the TMR. Valerie fell in love with Nelvana instantly, much to her regret later. She lived at the TMR for a few years, eventually growing tired of the stone walls and lack of excitement that she had hoped to find. So, once again, she left her home behind.

Not having any sort of expertise for an actual job, Valerie now roams the streets of Brightkeep, taking whatever she can to survive. As awful as life is for her now, at least she is free. At least she never will need to see her parents again. At least she won't need to think about the dumb crush she had again.
