Jewel is a Longear. About 20 years old.
Jewel generally stays in his most humanoid form, but will often transform his left forearm to better kill with.
The older twin brother of Fionnan. The twins were separated at birth. Jewel’s foster mother gave birth to a stillborn and she couldn’t accept that shame, so she ordered a servant to go out and take a baby from a nearby forest. The baby returned to her was Jewel. She didn’t realize just how foolish this was, however. Over the years, Jewel was shunned by the community because of his lack of magic ability. He was a lot more energetic, active, and rambunctious as a child, but because these were traits the community didn’t like, his personality was beaten out of him. Now Jewel is very timid, cold, and near-silent. There’s a subservient quality to him and he will put himself last in all of his decisions. He flinches when anyone raises their hand even slightly, so used to being beaten. He has the perfect manners of the more refined Longears now, but the society still doesn’t view him as worthy. Because of the way he dresses and holds himself, Jewel can easily be mistaken for a girl. Jewel does manual labor, acting almost like a servant in his own household. (his foster mother eventually gave birth to healthy children) However, by night he acts as an assassin, cleaning up the streets of certain “undesirables” or helping to eliminate political rivals of his family. Escape has never occurred to him, but he often finds himself looking over the wall of the city to the forests beyond.
