| Personality | Flintclaw was a chronic trespasser growing up. It was his favorite hobby, and all he really cared about was sneaking out. He's become a decent hunter because of this, and has a high tolerance to bad smells, as he would often roll in rot to mask his scent. He only felt alive at night, and every territory in the clan had a ranking in his mind about how easy they were to invade, and how dangerous it would be to get caught. After he ran into a kittypet and killed him in what he describes as self-defense, he's had a tight leash, and had to give up the only thing that he enjoyed. He also is in a terrible relationship, so he is often in a very poor mood. Even when he was trespassing and not yet in that relationship, Flintclaw was already quiet, unfriendly, and quick to anger. He was very defensive about his homosexuality that he tried to keep a secret, but was pushed out and lauded as a homophobe. He struggles to tell when he is being treated unfairly and when he deserves how others treat him. He feared enemy leaders, but not so much anymore now that he's been on the straight and narrow, but he has a lingering fear of humans. | |
| History | Flintkit was born to a single she-cat who'd escaped a bad situation and joined ThornClan in a rush. The clan took pity on her because nothing about her seemed outright offensive, and she was pregnant at the time. When no one was around, she would pass on her trauma to her son, verbally abusing him, until the day ThornClan caught on that she was homophobic. Flintkit was too young to consider his sexuality at the time, but his mother's words would stick with him, even as the clan drove her out, not wanting to have someone who would talk down to their queer members. She elected to leave Flintkit with them. Growing up, Flintpaw frequently trespassed on other territories, getting thrills from not getting caught. He would cover himself in rot to disguise his scent, which got him bullied when he was caught by Jaegerpaw who told everyone how stinky he was. His mentor also caught him, and he had to curb the behavior somewhat, but didn't stop. Meeting Jaegerpaw reawakened his bisexual feelings he was repressing. Unfortunately, on another outing, he ran into a male kittypet who started to hit on him. Flintclaw snapped and killed the kittypet, feeling threatened by his pushy behaviour, then ran away. He was tracked down and caught. He defended himself, saying it was an accident and the other was scaring him, but others doubted his claims. Puffinstar condemned him to a pit in dirtplace as punishment, but thankfully no one used the pit. Instead, his clanmates booed him for the annoyance he caused. A cat joined the clan under the name Aukwing, and he attached to Flintclaw very strongly, relentlessly trying to make him happy. Flintclaw eventually softened, coming around to him and letting him close, and accepting his attraction to males. Aukwing suddenly blew up the relationship by surprising him with an adopted kit, a kittypet he introduced as Harekit. Flintclaw didn't want kits, and made it known, but still did his fatherly duties towards an uncomfortable Harekit. After getting apprenticed, she started to come to terms with things and set some boundaries, including taking back her old name, Bouncypaw. Flintclaw struggled to connect with her through her apprenticeship, partially because of the pressure Aukwing put on him, as well as the presence of her mentor Siltshimmer who didn't like him because of the murder. On top of that, he still never really wanted kids, and wasn't old enough to be her father anyway. She was eventually named Bouncypounce. Aukwing would, unbeknownst to him, deliberately isolate him from the clan by playing up his grumpy personality and behaviours. Because of this, Aukwing was the only cat who seemingly wanted him around, and Flintclaw, not knowing that it was deliberate, felt like he owed Aukwing, despite it all. He was also embarrassed to be seen with him, the whole clan not appreciating the move of surprising a new mate with an adopted child. When Goosetail was found dead, Flintclaw thought Ravenhaze was accusing him of being the killer when he stopped by to ask if ThornClan had seen anything suspicious, but it turned out he wasn't thinking of that. | |
