Childhood

Demonically oppressed when he was 9 and possessed when he was 10, John now has a scar on chin that was ‘self-inflicted’ through demonic intent. He was exorcised by Father Tomas McGeough, but was never the same –quieter, introverted and defensive. After this John began experiencing side effects of ‘Lucid Dreaming.' This is, a short while later, found to be bouts of psychic phenomena due to demonic taint of the mind. Leaving him more open to the paranormal and Giving him the ability to see the 'Otherworld.'

During the calm period following Johns reprieve, Margaret (Maggie) M. Myers and Ted Myers (Johns Parents respectively) dissappear and are officially declared missing by state authorities... they are never seen again.

John is taken in by his Uncle, Thaddeus Maximilian Colmhurst, who is a devout member of the Church of the Holy Revenant (CHR.)

CHR Soldier

Johns uncle Thaddeus (a religious man of strongly devout demeanor) took John in after the tragic dissapearance of his parents and moved with him to St. Louis, Missouri. Thaddeus then introduced him to the 'Church of the Holy Revenant,' where John was then indoctrinated and forced reveal his abilities (by the behest of Thaddeus, who witnessed these abilities emerge during Johns exorcism.). He was trained and introduced to his first *Pit Demon at the age of 14. To do this they locked him in a room with the viscious beast and forced him to perform exorcist rights. If the exorcism worked then he would become a 'Soldier of the Revenant,' if not then John would simply have been named 'Glorious Dead.'

The exorcism worked, and John became a sanctified 'Soldier of the Revenant' by the age of 16, and became their agent in exorcizing and executing Fae-folk, Demon-kind and all things ‘not of this earth by the grace of god.’

Priesthood

At 18, still a soldier of the CHR, John was given the task to kill 2 young **Cambion twins (Cambion: a child of a demon (usually incubi or Succubae) and a human,) however, he had a change of heart in seeing the innocents he had been sent to murder, and was confronted by their human mother whom spoke of her love for the ***Soldier Demon she consorted with, whom was killed by another member of the church, the father of fellow CHR soldier Richard Malcolm Raithe.

The concept of requited love between a demon and a human shocked John, and the revelation of demons as anything more than ravenously evil beings completely shook his world view. Following this, grieved at his own percieved crimes and furious, John fled the Church of the Holy Revenant and disowned his entrenched uncle, moving to Kansas City, Missouri.

Now being of age, and searching for direction, John applied and became a fully fledged member of the Catholic Church. Not disavowing the protection of God or the teachings of King James VI, which were still followed by the CHR, but leaving the clutches of an aggressive organised institution****

In a liaise with the Vatican in recognition of his Talents (Secretly monitored as John grew,) John agreed to continue his work as an exorcist and supplement his knowledge of demonology as long as he received the right to assess circumstances first, judge for himself whether a target was deserving of banishment or death, and have permanent rights of call to deal with a situation none aggressively if he deems fit.

At 19 John is fully ordained as a priest at St. Michaels Church within the Kansas City Parish, with roaming rights to perform ‘the work of Monsignor the Pope under the jurisdiction of God’ outside the boundaries of his Diocese.*****

Present storyline

John follows this lifelong pattern, having encounters with certain Demons and Fae along the way, when one day, aged 27 years old... He stumbles into an entirely new situation, one that all his training could never prepare him for. Vampirism.

And along with it the fading of his God given abilities, the creeping retreat of the church, his faith, and not to mention an old friend turned villian that wants to take a bloody chunk out of Johns ice-cold ass. Will he ever regain his abilities? Has God truly abandoned him? Only time will tell if John's looming doubt is overcome while he's forced to kick ass and take names.

Notes

* Pit Demon - An unintelligent demon, often capable of only basic speech, usually grotesque in appearance, charged with guarding and tormenting the souls in the Pits of Hell. These demons are the ones you hear of that account for exorcisms after possessing and tormenting humans, which they do through seeking a gateway into the free, earth-bound plain as they feed on the terror of humans.

** Cambion - a child of a demon (usually incubi or Succubae) and a human.

*** Soldier Demon - A higher rank of demon, can range from animalistic in appearance or appear humanoid. These demons are tasked with guarding 'districts' of hell and can be in charge of Troups or Legions depending on rank. The highest form of Soldier Demon are Generals, and above this: Cardinals, who are in fact Ex-Angels, who followed Lucifer into the depths of hell when he and his rebel army where cast out of heaven.

**** The CHR is an organised institution similar to the church of scientology.

***** Outside the boundaries of his Diocese - Meaning he can travel anywhere in the world to perform exorcisms.
