Trivia

  • His doctorate is fake. He paid for it online from some sham university, but it looks and sounds pretty legitimate.
  • That being said, he does have most of the skills necessary to perform common procedures at his clinic... However, these skills are not refined in any sense.
  • He cannot tie a tie for the life of him, but man oh man does he think he can.
  • He needs reading glasses, and he's legally blind in his left (our right) eye.
Personality

Cruel and malicious, Cedrick is not the kind of person you'd want to hang around, let alone the kind of person you should allow to perform medical procedures on you. Thankfully, he's clever enough to lower his prices in order to entice the more desperate within the population to his clinic's doorstep. Cedrick is not the kind to mince words, he's straightforward and will always find reasons to be critical of others. He's extremely intelligent, he honestly knows far too much more than you'd think. When it comes to his job, his work is shaky at best - he likes to talk the talk of being an excellent clinician, but in all honesty his work is average at best. Thus, you'd definitely have the right impression of him if you thought him to be egotistical or vain. It doesn't help that he tends to have an off-putting presence, even when he tries otherwise. When it comes to things, achievements, and people he likes, they tend to receive similar treatment from him despite their differences in value. This is not to say that he doesn't value humanoids in general, he just often does not think they merit his undivided attention. Perhaps if someone were to be particularly interesting to him, he'd become rather intrigued with them. Whenever anyone or anything gains his interest, he tends to fixate on them, as he finds them to be an anomaly, and anomalies require analyzing. Along the same vein, those that gain his attention may be lucky enough to see the more protective and cordial side of him. With this being said, he can still come off as rather abrupt and blunt to those people, regardless of his attempts for the opposite.

Likes

  • Getting his hands dirty. He would love to not wear gloves during clinic hours, but easier cleanup is best.
  • Going over patient charts and info. He likes to identify the ones that no one would miss and lull them into a false sense of security.
  • When people address him as Dr. Morris.
  • Experimenting on humanoids. Humans, dainties... if it's bipedal and cognizant he enjoys running tests on it. He likes to learn!
Dislikes

  • Anyone mentioning his scar. That's a surefire way to get subpar treatment from him.
  • Closing the clinic. He loves his work, so any time away from it is honestly quite boring to him.
  • Cooking. He's garbage at it, he survives off of microwave/oven dinners and take out.
  • When others mistakenly think he performs murder-for-hire services. This man likes to kill to fit his own needs and that's all.
History

Cedrick has never been the most committed person, but he's always had high aspirations. Even from a young age, he'd have goals that were just too high to achieve for him, and he'd become frustrated with himself whenever he fell short. He'd always try to find ways to fill the gaps between his ambition and reality, and he didn't precisely care for the morality or legality of the means, as long as he could get his way. These lofty ideals even spread into his own personality - he always has viewed himself as a better, more flawless person than he really is. While his goals are high, he often ended up skating through life doing just the bare minimum to get by. He didn't see the value in most of the things that others did. He only went through with them out of necessity, and often didn't put in enough effort to get anything meaningful out of them.

It should come as no surprise to hear, then, that he simply wasn't a good enough candidate to get into medical school - his scores simply weren't good enough. However, he'd always had the desire to become a doctor, despite lacking the compassion and drive that the career involves. But of course, he had to have this title - the gap between expectation and reality had to be filled. So, with a little searching and an elaborate lie, he had exactly what he wanted! Well, sort of. He'd purchased a degree from a website, which was good enough for him! Upon applying to jobs, he presented them with false transcripts and an elaborate story about how he was some kind of prodigy down on his luck. In no time at all, he ended up landing a job at a lab specializing in observational and experimental research on human subjects, and they were more than willing to hire him.

idk what happens here but he gets fired because he's terrible at his job, surprise surprise, since he's not REALLY licensed

In light of his fall from such a highly respected employer, Cedrick struggled to find work anywhere else. Thus, he turned to investing his remaining funds into a dingy, sketchy, back-alley looking clinic. It was run down and could use a cleaning or three, but Cedrick would soon find it suitable to conduct business out of. Now, he tends to various criminal and down-on-their-luck patients who want to avoid the questions hospitals might ask about their injuries, or those who just don't have the money to pay for such things. He might not keep you comfortable, but he'll patch you up and it'll be a hell of a lot cheaper than anything else you'll find! Of course, while he prefers monetary compensation, he's no stranger to arranging alternative ways to pay, namely through supplying him with materials to use in his clinic, or through time spent helping run his clinic. After all, nurses for a clinic like his are in short supply, and he certainly would appreciate the help.

World Info

Cedrick lives in a city crippled with crime and chaos. Bad things happen frequently, and shady deals happen on nearly every corner. While no one singular crime syndicate "owns" the city, this makes it almost worse, since there are several groups fighting for control at once, and they won't hesitate to take unlucky bystanders down with them. Of course, Cedrick doesn't really mind either way, since his business profits from all the fighting going around - fighting gets people hurt, and if they don't want their cover to be blown by a nosey ER nurse, they'll come to him and pay whatever he asks to get patched up again.
