“... I regret nothing. I named that species... after my son. I haven’t seen him in three years. I don’t know where he is, and that’s all I have left of him.
“I... don’t believe I made the wrong decision. I can’t bear to lose all I have left.”

Sen Leoi | 雷森 Léi Chén

Vertebrate paleontologist of mild renown and Vice-President Julong Leoi’s younger cousin, Léi Chén (anglicized as "Leoi Sen") is a reserved, spiteful man who provides a stark contrast to Julong’s radiant warmth and forgiveness. Having studied in China, he is a vertebrate paleontologist known for reclassifying a wukongopterus specimen from the holotype’s species to a different one altogether. He was closely affiliated with the IVPP until a fire destroyed much of a museum he was working with. Disappointment and frustration with himself over not doing “well enough” to stop the fire from spreading caused him to move to Los Angeles, where he occasionally worked with the George C. Page museum at La Brea until his death.

Despite his near-perpetual frown, volatile broodiness, and constant “don’t touch me, don’t talk to me, don’t look at me” aura, Sen really isn’t a cruel man. While he’s petrifyingly shy, he is genuinely kind and forgiving to those who he feels deserve to be treated well and loves to make others happy, at times done at (nearly) any cost. On the rare occasion when he smiles, it’s such a stark contrast to his normal public persona that he looks as if he were an entirely different person. He was happy to provide for his wife (when she was alive), eternally loyal to his younger sister, warmly amicable with his father (even when his father was higher than a kite), and as supportive and proud a father as he could be to his son. Even after death, Sen can’t find it in himself to be cross with Kaliban over Kaliban’s alleged past.

Sen is 171 centimeters tall (5’7"), weighs 83.4 kilograms (183.8 lbs.), and is far from in-shape.

Kaliban is his husband and Fengge is their son.

On the second step down the far left end of a web of confusion, a stone statue of a small vertebrate paleontologist sits atop a cold channel of bloodflow. He gingerly holds a round button quail.
