Profile

“A lock is no match for my incredible persuasion and devilish looks!” he shouts with gusto as he whips his pickaxe out from his day pack and begins whaling at the lock instead of doing anything related to anything he just said.

Geoffrey Gaylord King

Geoffrey King is a sociable (if eccentric) archaeologist who has recently struck gold with several medical inventions. He is a playful man, though somewhat immature, and as a result, he goes by many ridiculous monickers and never passes up an opportunity to crack a joke. While he feels as though he’s never been in control of his life, he is the heir to a wealthy family, and with the help of his family’s money, he’s made some smart investments and furthered his own endeavors to become a notable figure.

Geoff appears in Sad Otters’s Nightmares: A Small Hamlet, Killing Game 13: Archibald’s Last Lingering Nightmare, and Killing Game 13 2: One Chance. He makes a cameo appearance in Killing Game 10.

Geo was a strange child; despite his pride, the boy withdrew into himself throughout primary school. As he didn’t take well to stress, he coped with it by burying himself in his studies (a habit he never outgrew). Mild and quiet, he didn’t have many friends in childhood, and what few friends he did have weren’t particularly memorable or good friends.

This took a turn as he aged, and as he hit puberty, he blossomed into a character more like the Geoff of today. Once he began building muscle, he began to come out (in more ways than one) and turn to cheekier endeavors. Developing a healthy ego alongside a set of killer thighs, Geo finally felt able to express himself freely, and so he did, quickly becoming flirty, assertive, fruity, smug, and confident. However, he still isn’t particularly a social butterfly, even to this day; while he gladly makes connections with as many people as he possibly can, he keeps a small, treasured selection of close friends instead of having shallower relationships in excess.

A man of sharp yet strange dress, Geoffrey stands at a respectable 6’4” and (with few exceptions) is nearly never seen out of dignified wear. Medium-length, loose, and somewhat untamed blond hair often described by its wearer as “not unlike amber waves of grain” sits side-swept below a well-worn buckler hat that, alongside the man’s comically small glasses, frames his face “in ways irresistible to man.”

Moving down to his torso, Geo wears a three-piece suit for every occasion; the top layer is a mahogany-brown, three-buttoned suit jacket with shawl lapels and a single vent that tapers off into tails, the middle layer is a beige waistcoat, and the bottom layer, an off-white dress shirt frequently worn with a popped collar. Given his tall, wide figure, Geo wears his suit jacket with the top two buttons done up. He also likes to draw attention to his wrists with his French cuffs, worn kissing-style, of course.

Goldenrod pants with a matching mahogany in-seam sit below this, held up by a belt to match the boots into which he tucks his pants. Speaking of which — oh my, his boots — his boots are knee-high, well-shined leather bastards that he loves to show off at any given chance. Its soles produce an unusual, resounding clacking on hard surfaces, drawing attention to him — and allowing him to flamenco dance — wherever he goes.

While he may apply principles of style to what vain nonsense he may work with, the fact still stands that his sense of fashion is questionable, made apparent by his colection of loud, colorful ties. His favorite one is a pale, giraffe-print tie worn with a Balthus knot, but his collection spans many closets and ages. Few have seen his en-tie-re wardrobe.

“Fickle” is a word that was invented for Geoff. Completing merely one degree wasn’t enough; he went back again and again to learn more things, new things, and before he knew it, he had a huge pile of diplomas present on his work desk. Most notably an archaeologist, he later backtracked to school to pursue law, neuro-biochemistry, geology, and accidentally embarrassing himself.

Being a child of wealthy parents, his parents made sure that he acted the part. Forced to make friends with people he didn’t like, marry a woman he didn’t love, and have a child he never wanted... the list goes on. Life isn’t all that bad for him, though; he’s managed to make a few good friends, and despite being forced into it, he loves his job. He greatly enjoys the thrills of uncovering lost knowledge or applying unusual perspectives to understand human behavior, among other things.

Nightmares: A Small Hamlet

Several weeks ago, word reached you about a meteor landing in a small fishing hamlet called Caelkirk. This in particular captured your interest and imagination, and you hope that a short visit can sate his hunger for illumination.

You feel a fire burning inside of you. This town holds many secrets, and you’re eager to uncover them. You’ve been granted permission to visit Caelkirk for a couple days. You hope that’s enough time.

Geoff is a tourist to the small Nevadan town of Caelkirk. The sub-alpine lakefront had been on his bucket list for quite a while now: in addition to the meteor landing utterly enchanting him, he also dragged his best friend along to visit the grave of someone who was dear to her.

Killing Game 13: A Long, Long Night Archibald’s Last Lingering Nightmare

“See you soon, my one and only true friend.”

Archibald King

Geoffrey Archibald King was a brilliant man, but time has worn his mind, and the death of his brother Derek pushed him over the edge.

Killing Game 10

You see yourself sitting at a table with your brother Derek, sipping at a glass of tea. He’s enthusiastically talking to you about his current project. You nod along, a fake smile plastered upon your face.

“Project Phoenix is coming along near perfectly, Geo! Everything that could go right has gone right! The AI from the brain scans already have basic frameworks, and we already have a fully functional one helping with the process. We could start seeing some real results in as a little as two to three years!”

He continues to drone on about the uses this project has, but you know the real reason he works so hard on this is because of his late wife and daughter. You have your doubts on whether this project will give him what he really needs. You sigh, knowing nothing you say will get through to him.

“Hey, hey Geo! Jeez, were you even listening? Anyways, back to the subject at hand... did you know about perspectives in dreams? I’ve heard that they can only be experienced in the first person.”

“Really? But, if I’m Geoffrey...”

Geoffrey slowly twists his head to face towards you. An impossibly wide grin is spread upon his face, looking as if it's been painted on.

“THEN WHO ARE YOU?”

Geo is an AI personality forked from a brain-scan replica of Geoffrey King. Geo went hysterical after losing contact with “the creator” and began to organize a killing game.

Trivia
