The Briggs Beast is the name given to the strange creature that wanders the mountains of Northern Amestris, though the soldiers of Fort Briggs know her as Scout.
She just started showing up out in the snow one day, and mostly kept to her own devices; occasionally guiding lost travellers back to the road, making her a bit of a local legend. The locals in the northern towns consider her a bit of a benevolent protector, especially after she found a lost child and protected them overnight; keeping them warm and safe before gently guiding them back to town unharmed the next morning. She rarely came down from the wilderness, so for her to bring the child all the way back home, in sight of many of the townsfolk was a big deal.
Chimera, as she called herself, having long lost a need for a real name, enjoyed watching the Briggs soldiers when they went on patrols, if only to keep herself entertained. She found herself particularly interested in a man she dubbed 'Wolf Man', a man who smelled and behaved much like his namesake. A chimera, like her, though much more... person-shaped. (He belongs to Decoloraa!)
One day, Chimera realized Wolf Man and the young girl she called 'Little One' had ventured into the territory of a bear with cubs. Wolf Man had frozen up at the bear's threat display, and Little One couldn't get him to respond. Out of fear for them and her instict to protect, Chimera charged the bear and bought the two enough time to get away, though not unscathed.
The next thing she remembered, she woke up in the Fort with her wounds bandaged and Wolf Man (Who she learned was named Casther) nearby. He'd gone back for her.
He gave her the name Scout, and she more or less joined the crew.
...
Scout enjoyed her time in the Fort, but there were details of her past she really should've told them. Unfortunately, she waited far too long, falling into a sort of false hope that they would just never find out, and it came back to bite her.
Casther led a reconaissance mission to an abandoned Drachman lab, only to find documents about Scout. He wasn't able to read everything, but he did get a name, Svetka Zaitseva, and the knowledge that not only was Scout a human chimera, but one from enemy lines, and they'd been giving her free reign of their base, meaning she had access to whatever information she pleased.
The fallout that occurs upon his return is messy, and Scout, now a prisoner rather than a friend, would do anything to regain the trust of those she's come to care for.
