I want to love like you do.

Envy is known to be an ugly thing. Turning what is love and admiration into a corrupted form of hate and jealousy. Only the pathetic are envious enough to waste their time on such a feeling. So it is no wonder the Archdemon, sin of Envy, is such a small pitiful thing. While not seen as much of a threat, it's known that when they get their hands on somebody, it can get ugly real fast.

Sharp tongued and sharp toothed, Alex is a prickly pear who finds it easier to insult and belittle rather than do anything else productive. It’s almost as if they are never satisfied with anything in their life as long as somebody else is smiling. As such, they are rather cruel and vindictive to anybody coming their way. They take satisfication in hurting others and can be rather sadistic. Although quite pathetic, you’ll find that they are very much determined to prove themselves. Despite words, they’re a rat who loves and admires the people around them to an extreme amount. If you're able to get past their prickly behavior, you can come to realize they are as loyal as a dog and as brave as a lion. They'll defend the people they care about, until they're dead and six feet under.

Sin of Envy

  • Despite being an Archdemon, they often don't really act like it. More similar to your average lesser demon, Alex would rather hunt their own prey themselves rather than have subordinates do it for them. Their rule of the envy ring in the underworld is lax and nearly nonexistent. While many demons there worship and respect their rule, Alex is known to not really delve too deep into caring for their subjects.
  • Despite being an Archdemon, Alex frequents the mortal realm often, disguised as either a mortal or a feral animal. While it's usual for gods to intervene with such acts, Alex's influence, although widespread, is rather weak and as long as they're careful, it often goes undetected. They come to the downtrod, the ones most hurt by the world, offering revenge.

Likes

  • Jellybeans Nobody knows why they like them but they do. You could probably bait them with jellybeans with how much they like them.
  • Scritches and Pats. They will never admit it but they do love getting pats and scritches. Maybe it's the feral brain of theirs. But don't go trying unless you want to get bitten.
  • Shiny Things. They will often collect tiny trinkets and shiny objects, no matter their worth. From pure gold rings to bottlecaps.Though be careful for they only accept quality items for offerings, whatever that means.
  • Sunbathing. Being an archdemon means they're rather resistant to burning heat. But the flames of the underworld cannot rival the bright rays of the sun. They will often feel warm to the touch, not because they naturally are but just because they've been sunbathing.

Dislikes

  • Being Belittled. Most people don't enjoy this, but Alex especially. It gets to them deeply, no matter how unaffected they act. They hate being belittled and seen as lesser.
  • Spicy Foods. Funny how they can stand in fire but can't handle mild spice. It just burns in the wrong way, everyone who likes spice are just obviously closeted masochists. You're all sick.
  • Heaven. Including gods, angels, and every celestial spirit. They all suck, they hate them... They really wish they were one of them.
  • Hunters. They've been shot at before by hunters and they will never forget! Never.

Trivia

  • Despite lives under Alex not being known for being the most grand or comfortable, you will find that their ranks are open to anybody. Any straggler or any misfit who hasn't found their place in the world. The broken and the unwanted, they all have a place within their circle.
  • Is able to shapeshift to however they want to look. From people to animal all the way to objects. They often prefer turning into animals.
  • Though many archdemons thrive under their domains, Alex has been known to suffer under theirs. It is not often for the sin to go missing at days at a time due to this.
  • During their visits to the mortal realm, they have been mistaken for many cryptids. From big foot to the jersey devil. They never actually mean to do this.
  • Is known to get darker in the dark and brighter in the light. This usually happens unconciously.

Story

I. Past

Caius' fall led to the groundwork of mortal wickedness across all realms, setting the groundwork for more evil to arise. And when it did, so came six more sins, each feeding off of the vices of mortal kind. Their births, though quiet and silent, would send shockwaves of evil, wreaking havoc upon populations. All before heaven's hands came down to banish them to the underworld where they lay to rot.

Creation

It was said Alex was born when envy filled the soul of a maiden of a married king. Her jealousy over the queen had been so strong, that what came of it was a being ugly as her soul was. Small, quiet, and observant, Alex watched with wicked facination as they led the woman to insanity. The devil on her shoulder, they whispered horrible fantasies and fueled her envy. And when the maiden finally drove mad, killing both the dear king she loved and the queen in the process, Alex found their work to be done, escaping away and leaving her pour soul to suffer the consequences. From then on, they found themselves amongst the poor. The downtrodden and the pathetic. Those looking up above them not with facination or determination but envy and spite. Their influence, though widespread, was quiet and silent. At least until a violent inssurection rose up from jealous barons and dukes, attacking the monarchy for power. It was then many gods realized. This was no work of a weaker lesser demon, but a lurking archdemon, born in the shadows.

Banishment

Filled with confidence, Alex became more and more reckless with their evil works. That was until the gods came down to strike them from the mortal realm. Being slippery, they escaped once or twice. But there was so many hiding spots they could utilize and when the time came, they banished Alex into the underworld. There, their envy would only grow, the hatred in their heart strong.

II. Present

It had been decades since their banishment, the archdemon dwelling in the shadows growing more and more jealous with every day that passed. Despite the underworld being filled with entities similar to themselves, the rat took no comfort in it. But banishment meant nothing if nobody caught you breaking the rules. Despite strict vigilance the gods had on the mortal realm, Alex was able to skirt by once in a while as a feral creature and animal. There, they would meet a poor soul. A perfect target. Kayo, a mortal worthy to be dragged into their ranks. But instead of a bitter heart, Alex found a kind girl. And no matter what deal they struck, she wouldn't budge. No matter, Alex was an immortal being, they could wait. It was only a matter of time after all...

III. Future

Suddenly, the worst would happen. War between the gods and the demons broke out. And while Alex would love to do nothing with such issues, it had affected their sibling and her health, forcing them out of their hiding to care for her. With tensions high and trustability low, Alex had made the mistake in abandoning their mortal target in paranoia. What came of it was a deal, not with themselves, but with a demon of wrath. Kayo, now filled with hate and fury, was no longer a target. And Alex soon realized, he had accidentally made a friend. But with Nemesis' tight control over her soul, there was nothing a weak demon like Alex could do.

Lumine

Sibling / Caring / Annoyance

Two sins born at the same time, Alex and Lumine were quick to become siblings. And siblings they were. Alex absolutely despises Lumine's confidence and charisma. Like a mirror to what they could never be, they're often jealous and distainful of it all. But... they do care and love her. She is their sibling after all and if anything, they're glad those great qualities went to her and not to anybody else.

Usually Alex stayed away from mortals when taking his travels in their realm. But drawn into her pain and isolation, the rat stuck around as her pet cat for a while before revealing themself. They're rather grateful for her acceptance, finding her flawed real pressence a breath of fresh air amongst the perfect idiots around them. Now only if they could make her make a deal with them... that partner needs to go.

It's unfair they have what you don't, but I know a way to make it right.
