Phoebe's Links
Phoebe wasn't expecting to fall in love with Ezekiel, but nevertheless, here she is... The two of them met through a collaboration by their companies (Astrotech and Fusion Soft, respectively), but started spending more quality time with each other when Ezekiel asked her to build a rocket ship for the alien being held at the Magnolian palace. She's grown quite fond of his calm demeanor and regal poise (not to mention she finds him incredibly handsome). She has been wary about letting herself fall for new people so easily especially after the last man she was with broke her heart three years ago... but even so, Ezekiel occupies her thoughts very, very often. She truly thinks he is the best person to be in charge of the country, and not just because they're romantically involved.
Growing up, Phoebe and Florian's relationship was a pretty standard sibling rivalry. Phoebe felt jealous of all the attention her brother would get, as he was the "star child" following in their mother's footsteps, so she tried extra hard to carve a new path for herself in the field of science. The academically-minded Phoebe and the socially-minded Florian had more than their fair share of bouts, but in the end, they were still both family and cared about each other underneath the petty squabbles.
As adults, they went their separate ways and found it hard to keep in contact regularly. But when Florian turned up missing about a year ago, Phoebe did everything she could to find any sort of clue as to his whereabouts. She held onto the hope that he was still alive far longer than anyone else, even the rest of her family. This is not just due to her penchant for conspiracy theories (although, yes, that is a big part of it), but the fact that she KNOWS her brother and has trouble trusting any sort of situation he gets himself into. Lately, she's stumbled upon a couple of major clues that confirm her hunch, and she can't wait to finally find him and give him an earful.
She may love her brother, but she sure as hell doesn't trust him.
Florian used to tease his little sister a lot. That's what big brothers do, right? He made fun of her relentlessly, and although he'll tell you he did it out of love, there's a part of him that relished in putting her down to keep himself up. It's hard to say whether Florian realized how much his teasing affected Phoebe, but that wouldn't have changed anything even if he did.
There are a lot of things this guy won't admit, but one of the most important is that being around his sister kept him grounded. As they grew more and more apart in adulthood, he lost sight of himself and made some decisions there is no turning back from. He started to view family as a weakness, a tie to a world that shouldn't exist anymore. But underneath it all, he still cares very much about his family, the one group of people he wouldn't dare touch. He keeps his new life a secret from them out of fear of what they will think if they find out what he has become.
Phoebe definitely considers Miranda to be a friend at this point! They've run into each other at the palace many times now, and bonded over their love of music. She looks forward to chatting with Miranda whenever she comes to visit.
In a nutshell: The Cool I Think Zeke's Girlfriend Lady Who Comes To The Palace Sometimes
What stands out to Miranda about Phoebe vs any other visitor is that she seemed to take an interest in Miranda and her musical passion... something rare that makes her feel good that she wants to come back to, and seeing how Phoebe keeps coming back to talk to Ezekiel, the chances do come up~
...Unfortunately, whenever she does visit, it's always going to be for Ezekiel, and the moment he appears, she gets booted out of the picture. If only she could find a way to keep Phoebe to herself longer...
Phoebe's unofficial protege! She met Irving through working on the project to build Ezekiel a new arm, and has been very impressed by his bright young mind. She is very proud of his progress, and pulled a few strings to get him a job at her company, Astrotech. Sometimes she wishes he was a little less (seemingly) full of himself, and a little less in the way of her relationship with Ezekiel... but that doesn't matter to her as much. The real wedge between the two of them came when she decided to tell Irving her family story, and her suspicions about her brother, and he completely dismissed her feelings urging her to give up on looking for him. She still has high hopes for Irving, but he will have to work to build back her personal trust in him.
She doesn't know Liselotte's name, only her screenname. Liselotte frequents Phoebe's ConspiracyCentral forum, so Phoebe has talked with her quite a bit, and is impressed with her knowledge on legends and the folktales surrounding them. She gets the feeling from talking online that Liselotte is much younger than her (and she would be correct), and so unfortunately tends to look down on her a bit.
Phoebe has been a staunch believer in extraterrestrial life since, like, forever, and she is absolutely THRILLED to finally meet a being from another planet. But she doesn't know how to feel about a lot of her preconceived notions about aliens being proved wrong. (No spaceships? No alien society?) Regardless, she still wants to get to know this alien better and learn more about them.
Their first meeting with Phoebe was at a very bad time. Their core was damaged, which made this normally testy alien even more ornery. They were agitated by Phoebe's questioning and conjecture about space and do not care for further interaction.
Much of their hostility stems from their own confusion about their feelings toward this planet they ended up on; they do not want to admit to themself or to anyone else that they might actually want to stay. Phoebe is in charge of building the craft for them to leave.
