"Muggle fairytales! I got this book for Christmas."

Audrey Gysele Mary "Rey" Winchester (b. 21 August, 1980) is a pure-blood witch, the third and youngest child of Aurors John and Mary Winchester (née Campbell). She has two older brothers, Dean and Sam. During the First War, and shortly after Rey’s birth, Mary was killed by Death Eaters. Rey, her father and her brothers lived around Preston.

Spunky and reckless, young Rey isn't afraid to speak her mind, laugh about anything, and stand against the bullies. She would often get in trouble - or in detention. She grew up a more sensitive, careful, clever young girl. She's a brave and loyal friend, though she has a low self-esteem, doesn't care much about herself, and is afraid of being abandoned. She doesn't show her feelings easily, and would rather laugh or make jokes.

History

Audrey Gysele Mary "Rey" Winchester (b. 21 August, 1980) was a pure-blood witch, the third and youngest child of Aurors John and Mary Winchester (née Campbell). She had two older brothers, Dean and Sam. During the First War, and shortly after Rey’s birth, Mary was killed by Death Eaters. Rey, her father and her brothers lived around Preston.

John, convinced that Voldemort would come back, was very worried of losing his children like he had lost his wife, so he trained them at an early age so they could protect themselves and each other. John was very protective of his children, but especially his daughter. He would always tell his sons to keep an eye on her. He was less strict with her than his boys.

Dean was a very protective brother, and a very protective person in general. Rey would say he was a bit too nosy, though. Sam on the other hand let her do almost whatever she wanted, but he was a greatest source of comfort or advice when she needed it.

One day, when she and her brothers were still too young to attend to Hogwarts, they went to South Shore, where Dean saved a young boy’s life by jumping off a bridge. The boy was Neville Longbottom, and to thank them, his grandmother Augusta invited the three siblings and their father to her house. Rey and Neville became good friends, and would often spend time at each other’s place after that.

Augusta Longbottom had a lot of respect and admiration for the Winchesters, mostly because of the parents being Aurors like her son and daughter-in-law. Frank and Alice would praise John, and Augusta was delighted that their families could become friends.

When she was still young and hanging out with Muggle friends, Rey was attacked by a pack of Crups. She hold a certain mistrust against Crups since then, and finds it unacceptable that they attack Muggles.

Neville, pressured by his family, thought he was a Squib (a non-magical person born of magical parent(s)), and wouldn’t be able to attend Hogwarts. Rey would support him and encourage him, yet she told him once that if he couldn’t go to Hogwarts, she wouldn’t either, even if she was very excited to follow in her family’s footsteps.

When they were 8 years old, though, Neville used magic, so the two kids could finally predict their arrival at Hogwarts together. When asked what House she wished to be sorted into by her father, Rey answered she simply wanted to be in the same one as Neville. John smiled, doubtful that the two different personalities could be sorted in the same house.

1991-1992

Rey got her wand at Ollivander’s, it was made of Hornbeam wood, with a Phoenix feather core. It was 10¾" and was quite flexible. In the Hogwarts Express, she sat with Neville and her brothers. Shortly after departure, Dean left to meet his friends, leaving the three younger kids alone. Unable to find a place to sit, Hermione opened the compartment they sat it, scaring Trevor the toad that ran away in the train. Rey, Neville and Hermione went to look after it.

On September 1st Rey entered Hogwarts and was sorted into Gryffindor, which made her really proud, and also happy to be in the same house as both Neville and her brother Dean (Sam was a Ravenclaw).

She shared a dorm with Hermione Granger, Lavender Brown, Parvati Patil and another girl. Rey befriended Hermione, even if Hermione thought Rey should work more and often scolded her.

Rey and Ron bonded in their first potion class, on September 6th. On September 12th, Rey took her first flying lesson, but couldn’t practice much because Neville broke his wrist and she followed him to the Hospital Wing. She practiced a little later and came back late to the Gryffindor common room where she didn’t find Neville. She looked for him outside of the common room and found him frightened after meeting Fluffy, the three headed dog.

While Draco Malfoy, Vincent Crabbe, Gregory Goyle and some other Slytherins seemed to find it amusing to bully Neville, Rey would always try to avenge him or protect him. She threw one of them in the Great Lake once. She became an enemy of the Slytherin house, and they often made fun of her.

She was also unappreciated by Professor Snape, who she often joked about or responded, not showing him the respect he thought he deserved. Rey didn’t think he deserved that respect after he treated Neville very badly in a lesson where he got hurt. The more the Professor harassed her friend, the less Rey could respect him.

On November 9th, she assisted a Quidditch match with Neville, Ron and Hermione. Neville, Ron and Rey got in a fight with Malfoy, Crabbe and Goyle. She missed the end of the match because she stayed with Neville in the Hospital Wing until he woke up. When he did, she told him how proud she was that he fought the Slytherin boys.

For Christmas, Rey returned to her family.

On May 26th, after trying to warn Harry and Ron, Neville got detention in the Forbidden Forest and lost many Gryffindor points, he cried for a whole night and Rey tried to comfort him before he had to go to the Forest.

In June, Rey found Neville on the floor of the common room, cursed with a full body bind spell after he tried to stop Harry, Ron and Hermione from sneaking out of the Gryffindor Tower. She asked Dean for help, and he removed the curse.

After all those events, Rey started to be wary of Harry Potter, thinking he put Neville in danger too often.

Rey is doing good in transfiguration, charms, defence against the dark arts, and flying lessons. She is a lot less good in potions, history of magic, and herbology.

1992-1993

During her second year at Hogwarts, Rey tried to reassure Neville that he was not in danger, because he is not a Squib.

Rey attended her first Duelling Club and won all of her Duels thanks to her youth of practice.

She was very good at flying and showed more interest in Quidditch, finally becoming friend with Harry through their common interest. After Hermione is petrified, she helps Harry and Ron.

1993-1994

Rey lost Neville in the Hogwarts Express when it stopped and the lights turned off. She heard a scream and got afraid that something bad happened and found him in the same compartment as Harry. In the dark, she found a little space to sit.

Rey chose Divination and Care of Magical Creatures as her additional classes. While she did okay in Divination, she was very good in Care of Magical Creatures, a class she greatly liked.

She was also very fond of Professor Lupin.

She befriended Harry by practicing Quidditch with him. She told him about her hopes of becoming Gryffindor's Chaser.

During their DADA class, on September 9th, Rey’s boggart surprised everyone by turning into Neville, and then rejecting her. While she worried about Neville’s boggart being the Professor Snape, showing that his fear of the man was worse than she even thought, her boggart also worried Neville. The two had to talk about it, and Rey told him her greatest fear must have been to not be a good enough friend for him anymore, and that he grew tired of her. He assured that wasn’t possible. This wasn't the full truth though. Rey was, in fact, developing a crush on Neville and feared of losing him as a friend.

For Christmas, Rey got to St Mungo’s Hospital to visit Frank and Alice Longbottom with Neville and Augusta.

In February, Neville lost the passwords to Gryffindor Tower; because Sir Cadogan changed them so frequently, Neville needed to write them down so he could remember them. After that, he was in detention and banned from all future visits to Hogsmeade for the whole year. Ever supporting, Rey stayed in the Castle with him everytime everyone else went to Hogsmeade. While McGonagall forbade everyone to give him the password, Rey sometimes did, or just stuck with him so he wouldn’t be stuck out of the Gryffindor Tower.

1994-1995

Rey was extremely disappointed not to attend the Quidditch World Cup, because her father had a “bad feeling about it”.

On September 4th, Mad-Eye Moody showed the class the Unforgivable Curses and demonstrated the Cruciatus Curse on a spider, terrifying Neville. Rey was the only one in class to know why, and she was very angry at their professor. She tried to comfort Neville after class, but Moody invited him for tea, which she thought was a bad idea. Nonetheless, he came back from it feeling better, and with a number of books about herbology that he enjoyed. Rey, being not so great at herbology, enjoyed listening to him talk about it for hours. She became better that year thanks to him.

Later, another student asked Rey to be his girlfriend. She refused, and this offended him very much.

On October 30th, students of Durmstrang and Beauxbatons arrived at Hogwarts. Rey found the crowded school fun but sometimes quite pressuring and noisy, she often went for a walk by the Covered Bridge with Neville. She made fun of Ron for liking to look at the Beauxbatons’ girls butt.

When the Yule Ball was announced, Rey was surprised by how important it was for Neville, and she helped him practice his dancing, and also to find a perfect date for the ball.

On December 25th, for the Yule Ball, while Neville went with Ginny Weasley, Rey went alone. Ginny, aware of the two's feelings, encouraged them to dance and went to talk with Michael Corner, her future boyfriend. The two shared a few dances and had fun until late.

In January, Neville prepared a Valentine’s Day card for Rey. He was ambushed by a group of boys who made fun of him and told him that Rey has been seen kissing the student who had asked her out. They said Rey only pitied Neville, spoke badly of her and a fight ensued. When he got back to the Gryffindor Tower, Neville avoided Rey, who was studying with Hermione and Ron, but she followed him to his dorm. She found the card burning in the center of the room, but ignored it. She instead talked to Neville who refused to let her help him. She told him she needed his help, that she would worry so much she wouldn’t be able to sleep if he didn’t let her be with him. She then asked who he beat up, then Rey simply told him she was proud of him. She then proceeded to take care of his wounds, and managed to get more informations about what happened. Though infuriated by what those guys had said and done, she stayed calm, smiled, and thanked him for fighting for her.

Neville apologized for burning the card, and Rey confessed that he would be the only one she’d want to kiss. They shared a childish, shy kiss, and shortly after that, Ron and Harry arrived in the dorm, joked about a girl being the boy’s dormitory, and Rey said goodnight and left.

Though aware that their friendship had evolved into something else, Rey and Neville decided not to let anyone know.

After the Third Task and Cedric’s death, John Winchester was one of the Aurors to come to Hogwarts and take away Barty Crouch Jr, who had pretended to be the Professor Mad-Eye Moody all year. When Rey understood that he was in fact one of the Death Eaters that attacked Neville’s parents, she became furious, and Harry had to hold her back.

1995-1996

That summer was the first Rey could spend with Neville as more than just friends, though they still wanted it to be a secret. Rey’s brothers and father guessed very quickly. This made Neville very anxious, especially about John, that tall, frightening auror who was always so strict.

For his birthday, Neville got a Mimbulus Mimbletonia from his great-uncle Algie, and a lot of new books from Rey. He had been excited about herbology during all summer, and Rey enjoyed listening. On the other hand, Rey got a pet Kneazle from her father. She always wanted one since she had read Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them at a young age, and John thought she was now old enough to have her own.

In the Hogwarts Express, Rey and Neville sat with Harry, Ginny and Luna.

When Harry and Hermione founded the D.A. on October 5th, Rey signed immediately. Her training as a young kid had to remain a secret, so she surprised Harry with her good abilities, and he often relied on her to assist him.

One morning, Rey joined Neville in the greenhouse, while he was taking care of plants, to confess that she loved him. Something she had never said out loud before. Shortly after, Neville also told her he loved her.

Rey and Ron both entered the Quidditch team. She played with him on November 2nd, against Slytherin.

For Christmas, she was at St Mungo’s with Neville and his gran when Harry, Hermione, Ron and Ginny found them. She knew Neville didn’t want them to know, and stayed with him the next few days.

On January 13th, ten Death Eaters escape from Azkaban, including Bellatrix Lestrange. After that, Neville worked even more during the D.A. meetings and even out of it. Rey helped him as much as she could, and she noticed that he had become the fastest to learn new spells (aside from Hermione).

That year, Rey was often caught by the Inquisitorial Squad for all sorts of things, and she suspected them to get some sort of revenge that way.

In April, the D.A. got caught, and Rey obviously with them.

On June 18th, Rey left for the Ministry of Magic with Neville, Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny and Luna. The group was confronted by Death Eaters, and Rey got separated from everyone else. She attempted to lure away a group of Death Eaters and managed to get rid of two of them, and then got back to the hall. She found a wounded Ginny helped by Luna, and Ron who didn’t feel like himself. She told them to wait, and looked for the others. She ran into them, discovering that Hermione was unconscious and Neville’s face bloodied by a broken nose. She was telling him how sad it was that he broke his wand when Harry hurried them to go find the others. Rey said she knew where they were and took them to the rest of the group.

Later, she attempted to stop Bellatrix from hurting Neville but is bound by an Incarcerous spell.

1996-1997

On September 1st, in the Hogwarts Express, Rey was invited by Slughorn to join the Slug Club, due to her parents being well known Aurors. When Neville wasn’t invited to come back to Slughorn’s parties, Rey declined the invitation as well.

It was a year that drew her and Neville even closer.

During the Battle of the Astronomy Tower at the end of the year, she was standing guard with Neville, Ron and Ginny. Neville got injured and later, she was sitting by his side in the Hospital Wing.

1997-1998

Rey returned to Hogwarts for her seventh year, but a lot of things had changed. With Death Eaters now teaching Dark Arts in the school, and Harry, Ron and Hermione gone, it became obvious they had to reform the D.A.. Together, they opposed Snape and the Carrows, helped other students, freeing them from detention, and rebelled against authority.

The punishments inflicted by the Carrows were tortures and other cruelty, and while Rey kept fighting she felt less and less brave as she worried more and more for Neville’s safety. In a way to weaken Rey, they inflicted severe wounds on his face, as a constant reminder of what they could do. Neville was always optimistic and brave, and Rey only tried to hide how terrified she was.

Rey had spent her life until now pushing Neville, giving him strength, telling him it would be alright, being the strong, optimistic one, protecting him from bullies. And suddenly, he was the one being brave and optimistic. She started feeling unworthy of her house she was so proud of, and later asked the Sorting Hat if she was really a Gryffindor, and he agreed.

Soon enough, Rey has stopped sleeping in her empty dorm, and took Ron’s bed, in the boys’ dormitory.

For Christmas, Rey told every student to go back home, or go to a friend if they couldn’t go home. But her father and brothers being on the run, chasing Death Eaters, she had no way of going back home herself. Neville asked her to come with him, and she accepted.

As they returned to Hogwarts, things only worse and a lot of students didn’t come back, including Luna (who had been kidnapped during Christmas) and Ginny (who was hiding with her family), who were also leaders of the D.A.. The Carrows were aware of Rey and Neville’s roles in the rebellion and it became harder and harder for Rey to not be able to stop the tortures and the beatings her friend endured. They had tried to hide their relationship but a lot of Slytherin students knew about it and the Carrows would soon enough use it against them. The Slytherin students that Rey had stood up against for every year at Hogwarts were not allowed to get their revenge on her, and though she could put up a good fight, she wasn’t always strong enough against the number. She was almost strangled once, making her realise how far they’d go.

Eventually, in late April, the Carrows realised that Neville was the main ringleader and decided that Hogwarts could do without him. He didn’t know if they wanted to kill him or send him to Azkaban, but when they went after him, he ran and hid in the Room of Requirement.

Michael Corner told Rey that the Carrows wanted to get rid of Neville, and she looked for him everywhere, and finally joined him in the Room of Requirement a few hours after. They stayed here for a few days, and then more members of the D.A. started hiding there as well. Two weeks later, most of the D.A. had taken to living there.

Battle of Hogwarts

Rey greeted Harry, Ron and Hermione when they came back to Hogwarts on May 2nd, Ron even holding her above the floor in a hug. When they walked from the Hog’s Head to Hogwarts, the trio noticed her and Neville holding hands and they stopped denying their relationship. Hermione said she had known for years now.

Dean and Sam also joined through the Room of Requirements.

During the first round of battle, she got separated from the D.A. and her leg got badly hurt. She fought several Death Eaters on her way back to the Great Hall. While Neville used plants to attack Death Heaters, helped by Professor Sprout, Rey fought directly on the front line. They reunited a little later, along with Rey’s brothers, when they got attacked and Neville got hit on the head, knocking him out for several minutes. Sam helped Rey carry Neville somewhere safer. As soon as he woke up, he returned to the battle.

During the cease-fire, she helped carry the injured and dead.

She was the one to remove the Sorting Hat from Neville’s head.

Neville Longbottom

[ Childhood friend / Boyfriend / Husband ] Rey's childhood friend. Their parents knew each other, and they grew up spending a lot of time together. For years, Rey pushed a shy, hesitant Neville to keep going, but as they grew up, he would more and more often be the one to give her strength. During their school years, she'd often protect him from bullies, though she tried not to let him know. Rey would always say he was very brave when Neville stood up or fought back. But in seventh year, she worried a lot about his safety, and sometimes wished they'd stop rebelling. Later, they got married and had a daughter, Mary Alice.

Harry James Potter

[ Friend ] Funnily enough, Rey was a bit wary of Harry at first, thinking he brought too much trouble to Neville when he spent nights crying about a three headed dog or a detention in the forbidden forest. Rey and Harry bonded over their mutual passion for Quidditch in second year. In fourth year he encouraged her to get in the team the next year, which she did. Harry and Rey are surprisingly very similar, and that can bring them to argue or agree. He likes how strong and trained she is, and how she plays Quidditch, and she supports him and believes in him, which make them really good friends in the end.

Ronald Bilius "Ron" Weasley

[ Friends ] Ron and Rey both have a strong sense of humor and Rey's jokes on Professor Snape impressed Ron. The two became good friends. They'd laugh together, eat together, and in seventh year, they missed each other. They have kind of a brotherly relationship.

Hermione Jean Granger

[ Friends ] Though Hermione thinks Rey should work more and be more serious, she appreciates the spunky girl. Rey finds Hermione bossy but admires her, so she never bothered being scolded by her. There's much respect between the two despite the differences, and then quickly friendship too. They share a dormitory (with three other girls) and Rey often lets Hermione study alone and spends time in the common room.

Dean Winchester

[ Brother ] Dean is a protective big brother. He and Rey both love Quidditch, and he gave her a Golden Snitch as a lucky charm. They have a good relationship, often laugh together, but they also argue sometimes.

Samuel Winchester

[ Brother ] Sam and Rey are very close, and he's the one she often talks to or seek comfort from. He always has good advices for her, it seems. She was really happy to have him at school with her for years.

Ginevra Molly "Ginny" Weasley

[ Friend ] Ginny is a very good friend of Rey's, they both share an energetic personality, and a passion for Quidditch. Though Rey finds Ginny a little too forceful and rude sometimes, she mostly loves her for how brave she is and how much she stands for her friends. Ginny helped Rey and Neville share some dances together at the Yule Ball. The two girls support each other and talk a lot.

Luna Lovegood

[ Friend ] Also a very good friend of Rey's (though Ginny and Luna are closer to one another than they are to Rey), she loves Luna's personality and adores to craft things with her. Luna sometimes offered funny jewelry to Rey, who really appreciates them.
