Think of him as a greedy dragon with the divinity of a unicorn. He can look deep into the hearts of a person to the purest part of their character--- If he cared enough.
He may be filthy rich and a complete tool but he is also a philanthropist. Giving to those in need is part of his character but also a good way of patting himself on the back and showing off. He'll give to those not-so-in-need, or as he can tell, not deserving of it for investment purposes. He has a lot of fancy occupation titles but in truth he doesn't do jack shit really except make money. He knows where the money is at and he gets it.

(He's a Qilin (something like a unicorn dragon) based off of a Slovenian legends of Goldhorn, a magical gold horned Ibex that guarded hidden treasures in high mountains.)

He was once idolized by old villages as a deity of Riches and Fortune. As time went by so did their beliefs in such things. He became a legend and trophy hunt for those who believed he was out there or happened to see him.
Then when the people in the villages were slowly moving into bigger towns as more time passed and advancements progressed he got less and less attention. Zlati didn't like that, and instead went with them-- in disguise of course. Easily finding a place amongst people with his wealthy and fortunate attributes.

Zlati quickly worked himself up the ladder of society and success. High rollers and big business leaders took fast recognition in Zlati's rate of success and trail of fortune. Whatever Zlati invested in was guaranteed sucess and wealth. He invested in stocks himself as well as many companies. He's very wealthy, travels and flaunts this as much as possible.
