Robin is quiet and dutiful, an incredibly hard worker who refuses to quit once she’s set herself in a particular direction. Keeping herself occupied is vitally important to Robin’s psyche—productivity is one of the few things that still brings her joy after everything she’s been through, providing the sense of purpose that drives her will to live. Consequently, she’s often multitasking and takes great pride in her work, whether she’s organizing Briar’s stuff, brutalizing scavengers, or anything else, whereas “relaxing” in the traditional sense doesn’t come easily to her.
She craves order, holding herself to a routine and a strict litany of personal rules. Privately, she fears what might become of her if she lost her direction again; she may claim to not find any particular enjoyment in bloodshed, but the truth of that isn’t as clear-cut as she says. While Robin isn’t necessarily angered more easily than the average person, she has a vengeful streak and prefers to be proactive rather than reactive when it comes to mitigating threats—she will start stabbing as a warning. She doesn’t really know how to respond to kindness, but shows her own affection through aggressive (sometimes overbearing) ministration.
Robin remembers. She's made a point to, holding her memories close to her even if she largely refuses to share them with others. Growing up in a wartorn failing state made her familiar with violence from a young age; she lost everything, but did find a father figure in a gruff foreign mercenary named Kaspar, who taught her much of what she knows today. She and Kaspar were later employed by a wealthy weapons baron, serving as housestaff in the alpine manor shared by he and his many children. Robin even enjoyed a degree of popularity in those days, admired for her work ethic and good manners.
She recalls very clearly the day she squeezed herself under a bed to fetch a lost marble, the feeling of the floor giving way beneath her just as she was emerging from the other side, digging her nails into the hardwood boards in a desperate but ultimately futile attempt to pull herself to safety. Alas, the Pit swallowed her up just as easily as anyone else.
Despite Robin's best efforts to defend herself, she'd been taken by surprise and physically mangled in the process of her descent, leaving her at an immediate disadvantage. She felt every moment, felt the Pit trying to gnaw at her memories along with her body, and that was something she couldn't abide. When she wasn't fighting, Robin was counting the seconds to keep track of time in all its horribly lucidity. By the time she’d reached the Atrium, her bones had snapped or fractured in several places, both her hands had been ripped clean off, and only a few ragged scraps of her skin remained.
It was only then that exhaustion finally caught up with her and she lost consciousness. Robin came to in a candlelit room freshly splinted, covered in bandages, and with a pair of willowy new hands; a young girl had noticed her amongst the wildflowers and brought her to her elder sister, well aware that only Briar could nurse her wounds. Despite the hospitality Briar and Teddy showed her, though, Robin’s paranoia only grew stronger and stronger, culminating in an incident where she lashed out at Briar and hacked a lattice of gashes into her skin before fleeing back into the bedlam of the Pit. That sort of existence made more sense. She fought. She wandered. She sat by herself counting the seconds and stubbornly remembering the other world. For a long while, she was alone.
Briar [ lady ]
Though Robin distrusted her greatly during her Feral Girl Phase, she's since come to feel a powerful devotion to her. Briar is Robin's anchor in the Pit, weird like her, but with the abiding patience and understanding she really needs. She likes showing off for her.
Agatha [ mentor ]
She’s been able to learn much from Agatha since becoming a target of her ire when she first “betrayed” Briar, and their relationship has improved as a result, but there are still a few gaps in her trust for the witch that need to be accounted for.
